The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets & 2013 Pacific Southern Division Champions, will open an eight-game homestand on Friday, July 25 against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. The four-game series against the Bees will conclude on Monday, July 28. Las Vegas will then host the El Paso Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in a four-game series from Tuesday-Friday, July 29 – August 1 with the first pitch for all games at 7:05 p.m.

 

The 51s, under second-year manager Wally Backman, are concluding a nine-game road trip in the Pacific Northwest against the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, on Thursday evening. Las Vegas is 3-4 on the road trip (2-2 vs. Salt Lake; 1-2 vs. Tacoma). The “first place” 51s have the second-best record in the 16-team PCL with a 59-46 mark (.562) and lead second-place El Paso (49-55) by 9.5 games in the Pacific Southern Division. The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, of the International League, have the best record in Triple-A baseball (30 teams) with a 60-44 (.577) mark.

 

2014 ATTENDANCE: In 50 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 238,843 for an average of 4,777. Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 31 seasons (1983-2013) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,553,623. Las Vegas’ season-high crowd, which includes four sellouts, was 11,133 vs. Salt Lake for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” on July 3 at Cashman Field. The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada.

 

A spectacular post-game “Fireworks Show,” sponsored by the Golden Nugget, will be presented in the opener of the homestand on Friday against the Bees. In addition, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive the Papa John’s Free Cookie Giveaway.

 

The 51s will partner with the Injured Police Officers (Help Las Vegas Cops – H.L.V.C.) for Community Heroes United Night to help benefit the funds set up for Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officers Alyn Beck, 41, and Igor Soldo, 31, and civilian Joseph Wilcox, 31, who were killed in the tragic events in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 8.

 

Fans can purchase tickets through the HelpLasVegasCops.com website and use promo code “Heroes” and $5.00 per ticket sold will go to the funds of our fallen heroes for this special evening at the ballpark.

 

The 51s organization will conduct a special pre-game ceremony to pay tribute to our fallen heroes and the TSA Honor Guard will lead the “Presentation of Colors” with the Nevada Emerald Society Pipes and Drums.

 

The 51s will also team up this Saturday night with volunteers from the Venetian Hotel and Casino for a donation drive for The Shade Tree. The Shade Tree’s Mission Statement: To provide safe shelter to homeless and abused women and children in crisis and to offer life-changing services promoting stability, dignity, and self-reliance.

 

Fans are encouraged to bring donated items to “The Shade Tree Booth” located inside Cashman Field and fans will receive two free 51s hats for their generous donation. The donated items requested by The Shade Tree include: women’s underwear (sizes 6-10), feminine hygiene products, bath towels, wash cloths, bed sheets, mattress covers, women’s shorts (sizes 5-22), hats, trash bags, bottled water, plus sized women’s clothing, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, diapers (all sizes), boy’s underwear (sizes 14-16), girl’s underwear (sizes 14-16), toilet tissue, paper towels, socks (for adults & children).

 

Greg Maddux Bobblehead Night, sponsored by America First Credit Union, will go to the first 2,500 fans through the gates on Saturday, July 26 at 7:05 p.m. Fans will receive a “Maddux Bobblehead” to commemorate his induction into the 2014 Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., on Sunday, July 27.

 

Maddux is a 1984 graduate of Valley High School in Las Vegas and, in 2004, became only the 22nd player in Major League history to win 300 career games. He also captured four consecutive Cy Young Awards from 1992-95. Maddux played for 23 seasons in the Major Leagues (1986-2008) with the Chicago Cubs, Atlanta, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego and posted a 355-227 record with a 3.16 ERA (5,008.1 IP/3,371 SO).

 

Game three of the series on Sunday, July 27 will feature a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m.

 

“Smith’s Value Menu Monday” will then be presented in the finale of the four-game series against Salt Lake on July 28. Monday “home” games will feature a “Value Menu” for the sixth straight season. The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

 

ARCO Value Days will be featured on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 29 and 30 against El Paso. Fans can receive 2-for-1 tickets and $5 in Cosmo Bucks with proof of gas purchase from ARCO. Tickets must be purchased at the America First Credit Union Box Office at Cashman Field with a proof of purchase from ARCO.

 

Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will be featured in game three of the four-game series against the Chihuahuas on Thursday, July 31 on Ronald McDonald Night. Every Thursday home game throughout the 2014 campaign will feature “Dollar Beers.” Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

 

The 51s popular “Jersey Promotion Giveaway Series” continues with Findlay Toyota Throwback Las Vegas Stars Jersey Night, presented by American Family Insurance, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates, in the finale of the homestand on Friday, August 1 on Opportunity Village Night.

 

The remaining game for the “2014 Jersey Promotion Series” include: LV 51s Pinstripe Jersey Mets Style on Saturday, August 23 vs. New Orleans on Fan Appreciation Night.

 

El Paso’s roster features three of the top 10 prospects in the Padres organization, according to Baseball America: Right-handed pitcher Matt Wisler (No. 2); right-handed pitcher Burch Smith (No. 8); right-handed pitcher Keyvius Sampson (No. 9). Infielder Taylor Lindsey, The Angels Top Prospect, was one of the players traded in the Huston Street deal with San Diego on July 18, and is now a member of Triple-A El Paso.

 

The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Sports 920 (AM) The Game, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com. Russ Langer, the nine-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 15th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

All 51s games (home & away) will also be broadcast on MiLB.TV via LV51.com.

 

Following the eight-game homestand, the 51s will embark on a brief four-game road trip to Northern California to face the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s, from Saturday-Tuesday, August 2-5.

 

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the America First Credit Union Box Office at Cashman Field. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non-game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith’s Food & Drug.

 

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved, $11.00-Day of Game); $13.00 (plaza, $14.00-Day of Game) and $14.00 (field, $15.00-Day of Game) & the blue dugout seats at $25.00. The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” that was held on Thursday, July 3 (all seats were $15.00 for that special event).
