Hundreds of Jobs Available for Qualified Job Seekers
They are often the hardest jobs to fill in Southern Nevada, yet they are often the most available and among the most highly paid.
Local employers are actively seeking job seekers with skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The problem? The Southern Nevada workforce isn’t adequately trained to meet the rising job demand in these industries.
That’s why Workforce Connections’ One-Stop Career Center is holding its first IT Training Expo and Hiring Event on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Like all services provided at One-Stop, this expo is at no cost to the job seeker or employer.
Job seekers can learn about the exciting careers and training available in the IT field. The Nevada Governor’s of Economic Development reports the average annual wage for IT positions stands at $44,800. (http://www.diversifynevada.com/key-industries/information-technology)
Employers, including DTT Investigations, Cox Communications, Stations Casinos, MGM and Robert Half Technologies will also be onsite to interview ready candidates for IT job opportunities. Job seekers who wish to be interviewed must complete the pre-screening process. Please bring your resume, transcripts and portfolios to share with prospective employers.

“High paying jobs, especially those in information technology, are available in Southern Nevada but right now we don’t have the skilled workforce to fill all of those open positions,” said Ardell Galbreth, Executive Director of Workforce Connections, the public agency that oversees the One-Stop Career Center. “Our goal is to identify and train those who are interested in entering this field, and assist in connecting qualified job seekers with employers who are hiring.”
