DAQUAN COOK SUFFERS KNEE INJURY

UNLV men’s basketball junior guard has torn ACL, will use 2014-15 season as redshirt year

UNLV men’s basketball junior Daquan Cook has suffered a torn right anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the upcoming season, head coach Dave Rice announced Wednesday.

Cook, a 6-foot-1-inch, 170-pound guard from Baltimore, Md., will use the 2014-15 season as a redshirt year and will have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2015-16.

“We feel terrible for Daquan,” Rice said. “He is an important part of our program and will have our full support as he goes through this challenge.”

Cook has appeared in 53 games during his career as a Runnin’ Rebel. He played in 28 games last year as a sophomore, made two starts, and averaged just under nine minutes played per game.
