Nearly 4,000 walkers who represent families, local businesses, schools, and other community organizations touched in some way by type 1 diabetes (T1D) are expected at the JDRF Nevada Chapter’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at UNLV. The chapter has set a $542,000 fundraising goal this year which will help fund research toward preventing, better treating, and curing type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications.

“There have been tremendous strides made in the technology and treatment available to those with type 1 diabetes in the last several years,” said Colleen Saca, Executive Director of the Nevada Chapter of JDRF. “This walk and those held across the nation allow us to continue funding the important research which is getting us closer to a cure.”

JDRF Walks are held in more than 200 cities worldwide. Nearly 900,000 people nationally walked last year and raised $86 million for research toward curing, treating, and preventing T1D and its complications.
