GRAND OPENING IN THE HEART OF HENDERSON
Now Enrolling New Students for Performance-Based Music Programs
School of Rock Green Valley, Nevada’s second School of Rock location at 55 S. Valle Verde Dr. #470, celebrated its Grand Opening Weekend with a VIP Night on Jan. 23 and a Community Day on Jan. 24. The area’s leading performance-based music education program, School of Rock has already enrolled hundreds of local youth and will continue to profoundly impact the lives of young people throughout the Valley for years to come.
The VIP Night included a hosted bar and small bites, stripped down musical performances from star students, tours of the school, meet & greets with the staff, a ribbon cutting, ceremonial “smashing of the guitar” and more. The following afternoon’s Community Day featured a similar open-house style setup, plus a rock ‘n roll styling station, full-band performances from current students and complimentary trial lessons. Dozens of new students and their families came by the Grand Opening Weekend, most of whom booked trial lessons or enrolled in one of the school’s numerous groundbreaking music programs.
School of Rock is an ingenious concept that gets kids and adults rocking out to classic and modern day hits while performing on stage with peers. Music programs are designed to create a supportive environment where music students of all skill levels are comfortable yet challenged at every turn. In addition to individual private music instruction on guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards and/or drums, students also contextualize what they learn through weekly jam sessions with other students. The team dynamic spawns a motivating and personally fulfilling setting where kids feel inspired to excel.
In addition to offering lessons and full band rehearsals, School of Rock differs from traditional music education by giving its students honest insight into the music industry. All staff are performing musicians, many of whom have toured the United States and abroad, offering invaluable knowledge about what a career and life in the music business can look like. Moreover, celebrity speakers often stop by the school to give the students an up-close and inspirational vantage point, helping guide their musical growth and fielding questions students have about the industry.
Overseeing the area’s schools is Regional Director Teddi Tarnoff. Tarnoff was one of the original 20 School of Rock students at the first school in Philadelphia. Years later, after more than 150 other schools have opened up around the world, she has remained an integral part of the mission and moved to Las Vegas two years ago to help School of Rock flourish throughout Southern Nevada. She is a daily source of motivation for the hundreds of students School of Rock serves in the Valley. In addition to operating the schools, Tarnoff spearheads three annual Mid-Season Scholarship Fundraiser concerts which provides local youth with access to quality music education, plans dozens of other performing opportunities each year, roots the students in the community so they can “rock on stage and in life,” hires and manages all staff, coordinates marketing efforts and more. School of Rock Las Vegas West, which opened in 2011, is among the top 10 best performing School of Rock locations in the world. Tarnoff hopes to echo that success with the opening of School of Rock Green Valley.
Students who enroll before the end of January will receive 30% off their first month of tuition. As always, School of Rock offers a complimentary 30-minute trial lesson to anyone who is interested in taking advantage of the school’s unique programming.
School of Rock Green Valley is open Tuesday through Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with hours expected to expand as student enrollments, lessons and rehearsals continue to grow.
