The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, and the 2013 & 2014 Pacific Southern Division Champions, will open an eight-game homestand to conclude the 2015 regular season on Monday, August 31 against the El Paso Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. The four-game series against El Paso will conclude on Thursday, September 3 (all games at 7:05 p.m.) Las Vegas will then host the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, in a four-game series over the Labor Day Weekend from Friday-Monday, September 4-7.

 

Las Vegas, under third-year manager Wally Backman and the 2014 PCL Manager of the Year, are currently on an eight-game road trip (4-1) that will conclude in Round Rock, Texas, against the Express, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, on Sunday, August 30. The “first place” 51s (74-59 record, .556) hold a 3.5 game lead over second-place El Paso (70-62, .530) in the Pacific Southern Division. Las Vegas is attempting to secure a post-season playoff berth for the third consecutive season for just the second time in franchise history (Las Vegas Stars 1986-88).

2015 ATTENDANCE: In 61 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 295,436 for an average of 4,843. The 51s began the 2015 “home” season with back-to-back sellouts on April 17 (11,007) and April 18 (9,928). The “home opener” crowd on April 17 of 11,007 was the largest in the 33-year franchise history (10,622 – inaugural home opener on April 10, 1983 vs. Salt Lake City). Las Vegas has a total of four “home” sellouts and is 4,564 fans shy of reaching the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 33 seasons (1983-2015) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,939,645.

 

Smith’s Value Menu Monday will be presented in the opener and finale of the eight-game homestand on August 31 vs. El Paso and Labor Day (September 7) vs. Tacoma at 12:05 p.m. (regular season finale, presented by Dreyer’s Frozen Custard). Monday “home” games feature a “Value Menu” for the seventh straight season! The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

 

Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will be presented in the finale of the four-game series against the Chihuahuas on Thursday, September 3. “Dollar Beer Night” will be presented at every Thursday home game during the 2015 season. Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

 

El Paso’s roster features three of the top 10 prospects in the Padres organization, according to Baseball America: Outfielder Hunter Renfroe (No. 3); outfielder Rymer Liriano (No. 6) and right-handed pitcher Casey Kelly (No. 10).

 

The final spectacular post-game “Fireworks Show” of the season, presented by Dolomite, will be featured in the opener of the four-game series vs. Tacoma on Friday, September 4 at 7:05 p.m. on Candlelighters Night.

Komen Jersey Night, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates (which open at 6 p.m.), will be featured in game two of the four-game series on Saturday, September 5 at 7:05 p.m. on Fan Appreciation Night.
