BALENCIAGA and NINA RICCI: Redken’s Runway Report from Paris with hair by Guido

Redken Creative Consultant Guido kicked off Fashion Week in Paris by creating two modern, simple styles that were both all about natural texture at the Balenciaga and Nina Ricci Fall 2012 shows yesterday. He created the clean side-swept style at Balenciaga because designer Nicolas Ghesquière wanted a “very modern feeling girl” to match his structured collection, designed for the way a modern woman dresses at work. Guido matched the playful, charming and feminine Nina Ricci collection with a romantic, vintage style with an emphasis on dry texture.

“The inspiration is the girls themselves. We first cut the girls hair to just above the bust and then cut fringe to have an “outgrown bang” type of look so slightly over one eye. We actually gave the girls All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner to wash their hair the day of the show so that they would show up with clean hair, naturally textured. We wanted their own natural texture and individuality to shine through so within this feeling of a very stylized world that Nicolas created fashions that are so specific and stylized to the nth degree, there’s this natural beauty in the hair- natural waves, natural curls. It’s funny when you see them all together how modern that looks. So you shouldn’t negate your own texture, there may be something great in there.” –Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

NINA RICCI

 

“The texture is very natural with a deep side part. I then tucked hair behind one ear and then behind the opposite ear and let the hair hang forward. Adding powder refresh 01 dry shampoo made a dry texture for a matte look- it’s duller and natural, not shiny. The deep side part makes the look very cool- easy and pretty.” –Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

–Nature’s Rescue Radiant Sea Spray

Create the Look:

  1. Spray Nature’s Rescue Radiant Sea Spray on damp hair.
  2. Create a deep left messy side part.
  3. Rough blow-dry hair a bit with fingers until 100% dry.
  4. Apply powder refresh 01 dry shampoo to the hair to enhance the natural texture.
  5. To finish, tuck hair behind ear on the left side. On the right side, tuck hair behind the ear but then pull forward a 1 inch side section over the ear.

Create the Look:

  1. Shampoo and Condition hair with Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner.
  2. Create a clean side part on damp hair.
