Description
Born in Kentucky in 1912; Richard A. Williams Jr., the son of German immigrants Richard and Emily Williams, was known for his tremendous eagerness and ability to sell. At the age of eight, Richard dropped out of school to get a job to help support his family. He landed himself in an illegal whiskey distillery working on the machinery from sun up to sundown. Growing tired of his job, he strived for something more. After eleven years of intense manual labor, Richard had been approached by the distillery’s operator to transport a few cases of whiskey to a speakeasy near the construction site that is now known as Hoover Dam. From 1931 to the end of the prohibition in 1933 Richard had made this trip over two hundred times, the locals of Boulder City, NV knew him well and dubbed him “Whiskey Dick”.
