Blood Drives To Success in 2011
Cannery, Eastside Cannery and Rampart Casinos Contribute 2,236 Units in 2011
December 16, 2011 – Cannery Casino Resorts (CCR) is again responsible for the most successful blood drives in all of Southern Nevada in 2011. According to United Blood Services (UBS), CCR properties were ranked first, second and third for the most blood donations collected during the year. The properties also held the title in 2010 and 2009.
As the dedicated blood provider in the community, blood drives are an extremely important tool for UBS to provide an adequate supply to medical facilities at the moment it is needed. Since no one knows when an emergency will strike, UBS must always have an adequate supply on hand.
“Our properties could not succeed without the help of dedicated donors who support our blood drives and United Blood Services year after year,” said Xavier Walsh, Chief Operating Officer for CCR. “Our blood donors and our properties have always supported the community and for that commitment we’re thankful.”
According to UBS, a combined 2,236 units were collected between December 1, 2010 and November 30, 2011 at blood drives held at CCR’s three properties, which include the Cannery, Rampart and Eastside Cannery Casinos. According to UBS, all hotels, resorts and casinos in the Las Vegas area contributed 7,339 units of blood, making CCR’s three properties responsible for more than 30 percent of all units collected!
The collection totals are as follows (December 1, 2010 – November 30, 2011):
Cannery Casino Hotel – 879 units
Rampart Casino – JW Marriott Las Vegas – 738 units
Eastside Cannery Casino – 619 units
“United Blood Services is responsible for providing 70,000 units of blood annually to medical facilities in our community,” said Danny Cervantes, Donor Recruitment Director for United Blood Services. “We can only meet that demand with the generous and dedicated support of properties such as the Cannery, Rampart and Eastside Cannery Casinos.”
