Goodwill Preps for End of Year Giving Rush
Encourages Community to Give the Gift of a Job

‘Tis the season to give.

Help give someone in our community the Gift of a Job this holiday season by cleaning out your closets and receiving a tax-deductible donation receipt before 2013 draws to a close. Or shop in one of Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s twelve retail stores across the Valley.

DONATE: The last week in December is historically Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s busiest week of the year for donations, with more than 25,000 people expected to drop off gently used goods at Goodwill donation centers between December 26 and December 31, 2013.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada offers more than forty donation sites across the Las Vegas Valley. Each donation location is staffed by a donation ambassador who can provide tax-deductible receipts and also validate itemized lists. For general donation guidelines, please visit www.irs.gov.

Most donation locations are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find a Goodwill Donation Center near you and operating hours, please visit www.sngoodwill.org.

SHOP & FUND: Every day, the sale of gently used goods in Goodwill retail stores funds Goodwill’s free job placement and training services to job seekers no matter disability or circumstance. This month, Goodwill is asking shoppers to participate in its annual Gift of a Job campaign, and donate funds directly.

Until December 31, 2013 shoppers in all of Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s twelve retail stores can add an extra dollar or more to their retail purchase. Each donor will be recognized by a Gift of a Job donation square.

Donations can also be made online at www.sngoodwill.org.

This year, the Gift of a Job campaign will fund the purchase of computer equipment for the new Career Connections Training Center located inside the Rainbow Goodwill Store at 741 S. Rainbow Blvd (at Alta). The computers will be used by job seekers during free training workshops offered by Goodwill to help better position them for employment.

Thanks to the community’s ongoing support, Goodwill of Southern Nevada has helped place almost 2,000 people into jobs so far in 2013 – a record number.
