The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets & 2013 Pacific Southern Division Champions, will open a brief four-game homestand over the Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 23 against the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s, at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. The final two games of the series will feature back-to-back matinee contests at 12:05 p.m. on Sunday-Monday, May 25-26.

The 51s, under second-year manager Wally Backman, are concluding an eight-game road trip in Northern California against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, on Thursday evening. Las Vegas is 4-2 on the road trip (3-1 vs. El Paso; 1-1 vs. Fresno).

Las Vegas is also concluding a stretch of 15 out of 19 games on the road from May 2-22. The 51s have the best record in the 16-team PCL and all of Triple-A Baseball (30 teams) with a 32-13 mark (.711). The “first place” 51s lead second-place Albuquerque (21-24) by 11 games in the Pacific Southern Division.

2014 ATTENDANCE: In 24 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 118,936 for an average of 4,956. The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 31 seasons (1983-2013) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,433,716. Las Vegas’ season-high crowd was 10,033 vs. Tacoma on Hometown Heroes Night on April 25 at Cashman Field. The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada.

The series opener on Friday will feature a spectacular post-game Fireworks Show, sponsored by Desert Radiologists, on Military Appreciation Night. Game two of the four-game series on Saturday, May 24 at 7:05 p.m. will feature Alumni T-Shirt Night, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates, on U.S.O. Las Vegas Night.

“Smith’s Value Menu Monday” will be presented in the finale of the homestand on Memorial Day at 12:05 p.m. Monday “home” games will feature a “Value Menu” for the sixth straight season. The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Sports 920 (AM) The Game, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com. Russ Langer, the nine-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 15th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

All 51s games (home & away) will also be broadcast on MiLB.TV via LV51.com.

Following the homestand, the 51s will then embark on a brief four-game road trip to El Paso, Texas on Tuesday, May 27 against the Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. Las Vegas will make its second trip to the “new” Southwest University Park (9,000) located in downtown El Paso. The series will conclude on Friday, May 30.

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the America First Credit Union Box Office at Cashman Field. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non-game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith’s Food & Drug.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved, $11.00-Day of Game); $13.00 (plaza, $14.00-Day of Game) and $14.00 (field, $15.00-Day of Game) & the blue dugout seats at $25.00. The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” on Thursday, July 3 (all seats are priced at $15.00 for this special event).
