Las Vegas Legends Signed New Head Coach Doug Borgel
MASL team introduced and officially signed coach at McMullen’s Irish Pub
yesterday among players, fans and media; released
full schedule for 2014-2015 season
The Las Vegas Legends, Las Vegas’ only current major league sports team, yesterday announced and officially signed new head coach Doug Borgel. Celebrating among players, fans and media, Legends’ owner and president Meir Cohen welcomed Borgel to the team with fanfare and excitement for the anticipated 2014-2015 season.
A UNLV graduate and former star player, Borgel is a nearly 30-year resident of Las Vegas who currently serves as Head Men’s & Women’s Soccer Coach for Bishop Gorman High School. Recognized as a title-winning coach in collegiate, high school and club soccer, Borgel will now add professional soccer to his long list of credentials as he leads the Las Vegas Legends to defend their division championship title through the 2014-2015 season in the Major Arena Soccer League.
“We are honored to have Doug Borgel lead our team,” said Cohen. “We searched long and hard to find the right fit for our team – someone who has a long-winning history and passion for soccer. Doug is a well-respected and renowned coach, and we are confident he can lead us through a successful season,” he continued.
The team has also released its full game schedule for the 2014-2015 season, which kicks off with a preseason game on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 3 p.m. followed by the season opener on Sunday, October 26 at 3 p.m. Each home game will highlight a select charity partner, to which the Legends will donate a portion of proceeds, and feature a game theme and special activities. Charity partners and game themes will be announced throughout the season. The season schedule and opposing teams are as follows.
