PAPILLON GROUP NAMES THIRD GENERATION OF HALVORSON FAMILY TO PRESIDENT ROLES

Geoff Edlund Named President, Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters and Jake Tomlin Named President, Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines

Papillon Group announces the promotion of third-generation Halvorson family members, Geoff Edlund and Jake Tomlin, to new roles within the company. Papillon Group’s Brenda Halvorson, who previously held the dual roles of president and chief executive officer for 22 years, has elevated Edlund to the position of president of Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters and Tomlin to president of Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines. In addition to their new roles, Edlund will continue to serve as general manager of Nevada Helicopter Operations and Tomlin will maintain his position as general manager of Nevada Fixed-Wing Operations.

Papillon Group, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2015, was founded in 1965 by Halvorson’s father, Elling Halvorson and has remained a family-owned and operated company.

“It has been my intention for several years to turn over the leadership of Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters and Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines to the next generation,” said Halvorson. “These men have many great qualities and talents, they complement each other both personally and professionally and—most importantly—they are committed to working together for the betterment of both companies.”

About Geoff Edlund
In Edlund’s own words, “serving as third generation president of Papillon Helicopters is an incredible honor and tremendous responsibility.” As president, Edlund oversees Papillon’s Nevada helicopter operations and plays a key role in the direction of the company’s sales and marketing efforts.

Edlund grew up with a front row seat to the tour industry. He is the son of Brenda Halvorson and grandson of Elling Halvorson, who founded the company.

Prior to joining Papillon, Edlund spent 13 years as a senior investment manager in Seattle’s commercial real estate market. He credits his entrepreneurial spirit to growing up surrounded by a family business and looks forward to carrying on the legacy.

Edlund graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Small Business and Communication. He has also completed HAI’s, Helicopter Operator Management Program.

About Jake Tomlin
As president of Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines, Tomlin oversees Nevada fixed wing operations, assists with the company’s political and corporate affairs, and flies as a captain in the DHC-6 Twin Otter. He brings 15 years of professional aviation experience with the Department of Defense and commercial air tour industry.

Prior to joining Papillon Group, Tomlin served 11 years as an F/A-18 pilot and officer in the United States Marine Corps. His previous work experience includes management in personnel, quality assurance, aircraft maintenance, flight training and flight operations (both domestic and international).

Tomlin is the nephew of Chief Executive Officer Brenda Halvorson and part of the family’s third generation of company leadership.

Tomlin received a degree in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
