The Smith Center brings 10 Broadway shows and 40 Tony Awards® to Las Vegas in 2013-2014

It was a monumental evening tonight at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts as president and CEO, Myron Martin, hosted the center’s first-ever President’s Reception. Held in the intimate Troesh Studio Theatre inside Boman Pavilion, Martin welcomed guests to an evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as he remarked on the success of The Smith Center’s first year before announcing the 2013-2014 Broadway Las Vegas® season.

Sponsored by Southern Nevada Ford Stores, the upcoming Broadway Las Vegas season is comprised of 10 of Broadway’s most beloved productions featuring many timeless classics and some of the most recent smash hits. Combined, the 10-part series, which includes the previously announced “The Book of Mormon,” brings an impressive 40 Tony Awards® to Las Vegas.

After unveiling the new season, Martin welcomed a surprise guest to the stage – the star of one of the upcoming productions, Joey from “War Horse.” At 10-feet long and eight-feet tall, Joey is the astonishing horse puppet that brings the timeless book and classic screenplay to life on stage. Controlled by three specialized puppeteers, each with different roles, Joey entertained guests and brought smiles into the room as he demonstrated stage techniques and galloped across the theater.
