Love is extraordinary. Love, in its many guises, changes us forever. Feel its thrill all over again with Nevada Ballet Theatre’s season opener, enriched with live orchestra. Feel the state of change that flows through relationships and through nature in Paul Vasterling’s Seasons, set to Antonio Vivaldi’s masterpiece, The Four Seasons. Then, revel in the heart’s follies with George Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream Act I. Shakespeare’s classic comedy of young lovers, mischievous spells and mistaken identities is transformed into a vibrant ballet featuring the lush score of Felix Mendelssohn and including more than 20 young dancers from the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre.

What is sure to be the ultimate variety concert, this show is a not-to-be missed event. Featuring some of the best of the Las Vegas Strip, the following are scheduled to appear thus far: Cirque du Soleil, Jubilee!, Jersey Boys, Million Dollar Quartet and Penn & Teller. Additionally, singers Human Nature, Clint Holmes, Frankie Moreno and Bob Anderson will be accompanied by The Lon Bronson All-Star Band and the Las Vegas Mass Choir. The evening will also include an inspiring reading by Nevada’s cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell and tributes to Frank Sinatra, Mark Twain and Liberace. Las Vegas legend Jerry Lewis is also scheduled to appear, along with Las Vegas residents Susan Anton, Antonio Fargas and Mark Shunock from “Rock of Ages.” More artists will be announced in the near future and net proceeds will benefit The Smith Center’s education outreach programs.

After 50 active years of hit song making and international album sales well into the multi-millions, it’s safe to say that esteemed singer-songwriter and musician Gordon Lightfoot resides with some very exclusive company atop the list of all-time greats. His song catalog is incredibly vast and includes such immortals as “Early Morning Rain,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Carefree Highway,” “Sundown,” “(That’s What You Get) For Lovin’ Me,” “The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald,” “Cold On The Shoulder,” “Canadian Railroad Trilogy,” “Ribbon Of Darkness,” “Beautiful,” “Song For A Winter’s Night,” “Shadows,” “Rainy Day People,” “Did She Mention My Name,” and “Summertime Dream,” to name just a few. But this year is special for the legendary artist who announced plans for a cross-country USA tour titled Gordon Lightfoot – 50 Years On The Carefree Highway. The tour features his well-known hits, as well as some deep album cuts for the die-hard fans, all of which are woven together with some of Lightfoot’s own behind-the-scenes stories and personal anecdotes about his historic 50-year music career. The event is sure to be a great thrill for live audiences and anyone who enjoys hearing great music and seeing a living legend in person.

The Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater (LVCDT) celebrates its eighth year of excellence in dance with the world premiere of Alice Down the Rabbit Hole, choreographed by founding artistic director Bernard H. Gaddis. This work will be LVCDT’s first full-length ballet with a score composed by master musician Martin St.Pierre of Cirque du Soleil. The beloved story of Alice in Wonderland will come to life with a contemporary spin along with innovative set designs, costumes and lighting.

From the renowned Slack Key Show® on Maui that produced four Grammy Award-winning CDs, three masters share the delightful experience of slack key guitar – the distinctly Hawaiian – style of open tunings – ‘ukulele, Hawaiian songs, and a kolohe (rascal) sense of humor.
George Kahumoku Jr., four-time Grammy-winner and Slack Key Show producer, is “Hawaii’s Renaissance Man.” His range of talents includes slack key guitar, vocals, storyteller, songwriter, teacher, sculptor, farmer and chef.
Ledward Kaapana is a musical legend. He is a National Heritage Fellow who is unrivaled for his exceptional picking style on slack key guitar and ‘ukulele, and has an extraordinary baritone to falsetto vocal range.

The long-running, Off-Broadway hit The Wonderful Wizard of Song is a jukebox musical filled with the iconic and nostalgic hits of OZ composer Harold Arlen including; “That Old Black Magic,” “World on a String,” “One For My Baby,” “Accentuate the Positive,” “Let’s Fall in Love,” “Stormy Weather,” “The Man That Got Away,” “Get Happy,” “Paper Moon,” “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”… and many others. Starring The Three Crooners and a Diva, the show gives audiences a peek into the composer’s life as The Three Crooners guide them through the musical vignettes traveling from the Cotton Club to the screens of Hollywood to the Broadway stage and to the Land of Oz. Sprat Artistic Ensemble, in collaboration with the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, presents Henri, an intimate theatre experience about the beauty and complexity of Alzheimer’s disease and aging. Henri features a cast ranging in age from 8 to 80 and has been called “delicate” and “sobering” by the New York Times. United, the cast creates a composition of moments, feelings, and images from the title character’s life. Talk backs with leaders in Alzheimer’s research and treatment will follow each performance.
