Three Square Invites the Community to “Fill The Plate” Throughout September for Hunger Action Month

Southern Nevada’s Food Bank, Along with Sponsors Boyd Gaming and KOMP 92.3, Launch Food Drive Sept. 8-30

September is Hunger Action Month and Three Square Food Bank is hosting a community-wide food drive – “Fill The Plate” – to collect food and funds, while raising awareness for its mission to end food insecurity in our community.

Today, Three Square executives were joined by representatives from Boyd Gaming to mark the first food donation on a 30’x30’ plate graphic – a central focal point of the “Fill The Plate” campaign.

How “Fill the Plate” works: beginning today, individuals, businesses and organizations can bring non-perishable food items to Three Square’s south warehouse (M-F between 9 a.m.-3 p.m.), drop off the food on the large plate graphic, snap a photo for social media using #FillThePlate and help spread the word throughout Hunger Action Month. Those needing to schedule food donation drop-off times outside of 9 a.m.-3 p.m. should call Bessy Le-Oh at 702.715.2833 to make arrangements.

A virtual food drive will also be open to collect monetary donations (www.threesquare.org/filltheplate). Periodically throughout the campaign, cans and boxes of food will be added to the “plate” to represent the cash donations collected.

The campaign goal is simple: to “Fill The Plate” by the end of the campaign on Sept. 30, when KOMP 92.3 will broadcast live from Three Square from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“We’re grateful for the support of partners like Boyd Gaming and KOMP 92.3 for setting up our Fill the Plate food drive for success,” said Brian Burton, President and CEO of Three Square. “We want everyone in the community that’s going to participate to know that every donation they make, no matter the size of the contribution, makes a massive and positive impact on the lives of their fellow Southern Nevadans.”

“For nearly 10 years, Boyd Gaming has been proud to support Three Square and its vision of creating a Southern Nevada free of hunger,” said Marianne Johnson, Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President of Boyd Gaming. “As a sponsor of this campaign, Boyd Gaming hopes to raise awareness of the important work that Three Square does, and we invite the Southern Nevada community to join us as we ‘Fill The Plate’ to end hunger in our community.”
