Village Square Welcomes St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Traveling Hearts of Las Vegas 2013 Collection
Ten heart sculptures will be unveiled at Village Square Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m.
Village Square has been selected as the new home for the Las Vegas Chapter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 2013 Collection of the traveling Hearts of Las Vegas exhibit featuring a collection of 10 artistic human-heart sculptures through July 31. To commemorate the new display, Village Square, members of the local St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sculpture artists will host a celebration ceremony on Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m. Village Square, the newly-renovated open-air retail, dining and professional office center, was chosen to host this year’s collection as one of the area’s most popular community hubs and easily accessible to residents throughout the Las Vegas area.

WHY: Village Square is proud to host the Hearts of Las Vegas, a breathtaking exhibit of three-dimensional, five-foot tall heart sculptures crafted by local artists to help bring awareness to the treatment of childhood cancer and other life-threatening childhood diseases. Each heart is a one of a kind piece inspired by the theme “The heart of a child”. Each artist created an original design for their hearts, which have each been charitably sponsored by local businesses to help spread awareness and support for the work of St. Jude. This year’s collection features the work of Robert Wyland, Michael Godard, Dale Mathis, Count’s Kustoms and many more. The 2013 collection was first unveiled earlier this year at the Smith Center’s Symphony Park. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the collection benefit the children of St. Jude.

More than a dozen new businesses have opened their doors at Village Square since Westport Capital Partners purchased the property in late 2011 and immediately began infusing extra life and energy into the center. The renovation to modernize the center is in its final weeks and all businesses are open during the construction phase that officially began in the summer of 2012. The new and relocating businesses at Village Square, located at 9400 West Sahara Avenue and Ft. Apache Road in Las Vegas, NV, are helping create local jobs through new business and 350 construction jobs alone during its renovation, bringing new energy to the shopping area, neighboring areas, and revitalizing the community. Chinita, NVpcfix, and NEPC, LLC just opened their doors in the first quarter of 2013. They join PACA, 808 Tapas, Security National Mortgage Co., Remax, and Maka Beauty, Bachi Burger, Patty’s Closet, Rocket Fizz, European Antiques, and the European Massage Therapy School, which came to Village Square in 2012 under the new ownership. The new tenants join established Cold Stone Creamery, Alligator Soup, 18-screen Regal Cinemas, Color Me Mine, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Archi’s Thai Cafe, All Nevada Insurance, Euphoria Institute of Beauty Arts and Sciences, and Kinderland Indoor Play and Café.
