United Way of Southern Nevada’s Women’s Leadership Council Annual Luncheon

Features Local Community Leaders and DONNA KARAN NEW YORK Fashion Show, Feb. 7

United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) hosts its 4th Annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 inside Ballroom I at Caesars Palace.

Co-hosts Punam Mathur, NV Energy vice president of employee and community engagement and Calvert Collins, 8 News NOW reporter, will lead the festivities. Attendees will be entertained by a private DONNA KARAN NEW YORK (DKNY) fashion show starring WLC members, pampered with beautiful silk organza bags and a piece of BeadforLife jewelry donated by MJ Christensen Diamonds and educated on the organization’s initiatives. In addition, a pair of MJ Christensen “Hearts on Fire” diamond earrings and a chic DKNY sweater accompanied by a gift basket of assorted fragrances will be raffled during the event.

The Women’s Leadership Luncheon is a fundraiser to support the efforts of WLC, engage female leaders in serving the community and recognize individuals who have made a commitment to improve Southern Nevada in one of United Way’s impact areas including health, education, financial stability, immediate needs and volunteerism. This year’s honorees are Karla Perez, vice president-acute division, group vice president of Universal Health Services, Inc., for health; Ruby Collins, executive director of Variety Early Learning Center, for education; Nancy Wong, executive vice president, Administration of Arcata Associates, for financial stability; Shannon West Redwine, advocate for the homeless, for immediate needs; and community leader Judy Kropid for volunteerism.

The event showcases WLC community efforts such as the annual suit drive. Guest speaker Denise Gee, director of the Work Opportunities Readiness Center (W.O.R.C) at HELP of Southern Nevada will bring to light how one donation of professional attire along with guidance can help change a life. She will share empowering stories from her career serving women in need.

Ornately-wrapped handbags filled with items to help women return to the workplace will serve as functional centerpieces at the luncheon. The handbags will be donated to The Shade Tree, S.A.F.E House and Safe Nest.

Tickets for the luncheon are $95 per person or $950 per table of 10 and all proceeds benefit United Way of Southern Nevada. Tickets can be purchased until Tuesday, Jan. 24 at uwsn.org/wlcluncheon. For more information on WLC, contact Lawrel K. Larsen at (702) 892-2319.
