UNLV WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SET TO BATTLE SAN DIEGO STATE FOR KEY TOURNAMENT SEED ON TUESDAY
Lady Rebels looking for first win in San Diego since 2006
Though two games are left in the regular season, the fight for the sixth seed between UNLV and San Diego State will be decided on Tuesday night, as the Lady Rebels travel to the Aztecs for a 6 pm contest in Viejas Arena. UNLV is also looking for its first season sweep of SDSU since the 2005-06 season, after breaking a six-game losing streak in the series with a 74-59 win in Las Vegas on Jan. 18.
Both teams come into the game tied at 8-8 in the conference, and the winner is guaranteed to claim the sixth seed, no matter what happened in the season finale for both teams on Friday. UNLV would hold a tiebreaker with thanks to a sweep if it wins on Tuesday. If SDSU wins on Tuesday, its win over Fresno State would be the deciding tiebreaker if both teams finish at 9-9.
Key for UNLV in the game will be its play on the boards, as San Diego State owns a +7.6 rebounding margin, and a MW-high +11.1 rebound margin in league games. The Lady Rebels meanwhile are first in league games with 10.1 steals per game, while the Aztecs are second to last in turnover margin at -2.4.
