UNLV WOMEN’S SOCCER CONCLUDES NON-CONFERENCE SLATE THIS WEEKEND

Rebels to play a pair of Colorado squads in the Omni Hotels Colorado Classic

 

UNLV will close out its non-conference schedule with a pair of games this weekend in the Omni Hotels Colorado Women’s Soccer Classic. The Rebels will take on Northern Colorado on Friday an a neutural contest at 12:30 pm (PT), and then face the host Colorado Buffaloes on Sunday, also at 12:30 pm. The two games will also be the final two of an six-game stretch on the road for UNLV.

Sunday’s contest at Colorado can be seen live through a webcast on pac-12.com, while live stats will be available for both games.

All About The Rebels
The Rebels are 3-2-1 on the road thus far this season, which includes a pair of overtime victories (Sacramento State, Idaho). UNLV is looking to find its touch on offense this weekend, after scoring only two goals over the past four games, after notching 11 in the first four of the season.

Leading the Rebels is senior forward Jenn Wolfe, second in the the Mountain West with nine points, while sophomore midfielder Susie Bernal is fourth with seven. Senior goalkeeper Kylie Wassell has posted shutouts in three of the past four games to give her four total for the season.

Scouting Northern Colorado
The Bears bring a 3-3-1 record into Friday’s game after claiming a 1-0 win at Wyoming on Wednesday afternoon. Northern Colorado has scored only two goals the last three games, but do have four shutouts this season, including in the last three outings.

A pair of players have two goals each to lead the team this year, Shanlie Anderson and Essence Ortiz-Lanier. In goal is Natalie D’Adamio, who owns a 1.41 GAA this season with four shutouts.

Scouting Colorado
The Buffs are receiving votes in the top 25 after a 6-0 start to the season, before suffering a 3-0 loss at No. 16 Denver on Sept. 15. Colorado did not allow a goal over its first five games, and outscored its first six opponents by a 13-1 margin. Sunday will be the second meeting all-time between the two teams, after UNLV claimed a 4-2 win in Denver on Sept. 6, 2010.

Colorado has been led by a pair of players that have scored 11 of the team’s 13 goals, as Anne Stuller paces the squad with 14 points (five goals, four assists). Brie Hooks meanwhile has scored six goals for 12 points. In goal is Annie Brunner, with a 0.57 GAA and five solo shutouts in 2013.

Next Time Out
The Rebels will finally return to Las Vegas for their first games on Peter Johann Field since Sept. 1. Next weekend will also be the start of Mountain West play, with UNLV hosting Boise State on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 pm, followed by a Sunday, Sept. 29 game at 1 pm. Both games will be produced by UNLV-TV and shown on the Mountain West Network, available on UNLVRebels.com.
