ANIMAZING GALLERY AT GRAND CANAL SHOPPES INSIDE THE VENETIAN AND THE PALAZZO LAS VEGAS ANNOUNCES ART CONNECT, A QUARTERLY EVENT, CONNECTING THE LAS VEGAS DOWNTOWN ARTS DISTRICT TO THE STRIP
WHAT:
Animazing Gallery at Grand Canal Shoppes inside The Venetian® and The Palazzo® Las Vegas to be thefirst gallery on the Strip to collaborate with the Downtown Arts District helping to support and bring awareness to the Las Vegas art community. The first of a quarterly series of events called Art Connect will debut on March 22, showcasing one local downtown artist each quarter. Animazing Gallery is giving 10% of the nights proceeds to help support the Arts District.
Art Connect connects the communities and informs locals and tourists about the great art and galleries both on and off the Las Vegas Strip.
The much anticipated event will debut and feature artist Effie Hlad of the Arts Factory. Hlad will debut exclusive works to Animazing Gallery as part of the Art Connect event. Local street violinist Alex Rivers will also be performing.
WHO:
Effie Hlad is a mixed media artist born and raised in Atlanta, GA as a first generation American in a Greek family. She grew up learning how to sew, knit, and embroider which has heavily influenced her art now. Effie began her studies in art at the University of Georgia where she was classically trained using traditional tools and methods, then completed her BFA at Georgia State University where her teachers encouraged her to stray away from traditional rules. Due to this diversity in training, her work drifts between surrealism and abstraction as it explores narratives and spiritual ideas using a variety of media and techniques.
For fifteen years, Effie has shown her work in group exhibitions and artistic collaborations including the creation of a mural in the High Museum of Art in 2012. She currently owns and runs her own studio and gallery located in The Arts District of Downtown Las Vegas.
