Blue Man Group Invites After-School All-Stars For An Exclusive Backstage Tour May 4


Blue Man Group welcomes students from Las Vegas’ After-School All-Stars for a special backstage tour from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4.

Students will be given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Blue Man Group as part of After-School All-Stars’ Media All-Stars Program. Members of Blue Man Group will be on hand to give a tour of the theatre including the stage, productions suites, props department, dressing room and wardrobe department. As a special treat, the students will be given lessons on how to properly play the drumbone, a unique instrument used during each performance.

Media All-Stars, one of several programs offered by After-School All-Stars, gives students the opportunity to explore careers in radio, television, film editing, advertising and more. The After-School All Stars program is committed to providing out-of-school activities for children, ages 5 -14. The program promotes academic and social achievement, confidence and self-esteem and currently serves more than 5,000 students in southern Nevada.

About Media All-Stars Program
The After-School All-Stars Las Vegas Media All-Stars Program offers students opportunities to learn more about broadcast journalism, newspaper advertising, cable television, film editing, radio & TV advertising, media ethics, media events, and “on-air” techniques. The students are able to create their own Public Service Announcements, short films, commercials, and other projects that sometimes even get aired on local radio & TV stations. The Media All-Stars get opportunities to expand their media knowledge by touring places such as: UNLV Greenspun, Channel 8 News, Channel 3 News, Vegas PBS, Cox Media, Las Vegas Review Journal, Opportunity Village, KVEG Hot 97.5, International House of Blues Foundation and Blue Man Group. The Media All-Stars Program meets 2 or 4 days per week depending on each school’s need. An example of a school’s schedule is Tues.–Thurs. (2:30pm to 3:30pm).
