Blue Man Group, Nevada Department of Public Safety and Nevada Department of Transportation Launch SAFE Driving Campaign
Public Service Announcement Campaign Supports Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Blue Man Group Las Vegas, the Nevada Department of Public Safety (NDPS) and the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) have joined forces to promote safe driving with a statewide campaign all month in honor of April’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The campaign focuses on the issue of distracted driving in Nevada and encourages drivers to eliminate distractions such as inappropriate cell phone usage.

According to Distraction.gov, the official U.S. government website for distracted driving, 3,331 people were killed and 387,000 were injured in crashes involving a distracted driver in 2011. Using a handheld cell phone or device while driving is not only illegal in Nevada but drivers who use hand-held devices are four times more likely to get into serious crashes.

Due to these shocking statistics, Blue Man Group and Zero Fatalities, Nevada’s unified roadway safety initiative, were compelled to create the campaign, which includes public service announcements and more, to raise awareness about the issue and emphasize the importance of distraction-free driving.
