DNCE
Formed in the summer of 2015, DNCE first introduced themselves to audiences worldwide with the release of “Cake By The Ocean,” their now 3x certified platinum-selling breakout smash. Included on the group’s 4-track debut EP, SWAAY [Republic Records], “Cake By The Ocean” entered the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a hit at Top 40 radio, where it went on to become one of the most played songs of the year. An international success, global consumption of the song is over 7 million adjusted singles, including nearly 450 million streams on Spotify worldwide. What’s more, the companion music video has over 200 million views on VEVO.
Following up “Cake By The Ocean,” the sexy, gold-selling “Toothbrush” amassed over 50 million YouTube/VEVO views with an unforgettable music video starring supermodel Ashley Graham as well as achieving global consumption over 1 million. Moreover, it received widespread critical praise from the likes of Entertainment Weekly, InStyle, People, and Rolling Stone.
Cementing them as one of 2016’s breakout acts, the band recently took home the win for “Best PUSH Artist” at the 2016 MTV European Music Awards and “Best New Artist” at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. They were also nominated for two American Music Awards for “Favorite Duo or Group Pop/Rock” and “New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile.”
DNCE recently released their self-titled debut album and completed their 2017 North American headline tour DNCE IN CONCERT.
DNCE is front man Joe Jonas, bassist & keyboardist Cole Whittle, guitarist JinJoo, and drummer Jack Lawless.
HAILEE STEINFELD
Republic Records artist and Academy® Award-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld made her music debut in 2015 with the release of her RIAA platinum-certified single “Love Myself” from her debut EP, HAIZ [Republic Records]. Cementing this multitalented performer as a vital new force in pop music, the song became “the highest solo female artist debut on Top 40 radio since 1998.” Among many achievements, the breakthrough smash peaked in the Top 10 on the Top Pop Songs Chart, went #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart, and claimed #25 on Shazam’s Us Top 100. By 2017, it had notched 270 million Spotify streams and 175 million YouTube/VEVO views and counting.
This hot streak continued full force in 2016. She teamed with Grey for “Starving” [feat. Zedd]—her second single to be certified platinum by the RIAA. The song vaulted to Top 5 at Top 40 radio, Top 5 of iTunes Top Pop Songs Chart, #13 on iTunes Overall Songs Chart, Top 10 on Spotify’s US Top 50, and Top 20 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 all the while closing in on 400 million Spotify streams. To date, the multi-platinum selling artist has amassed a total of 1.5 billion streams globally.
Steinfeld closed out the year by starring in one of 2016’s best-reviewed films, The Edge of Seventeen produced by James L. Brooks. Directed by Kelly Fremon-Craig and co-starring Woody Harrelson and Kyra Sedgwick, her performance earned unanimous critical acclaim as well as two Critics’ Choice Award nominations and a Golden Globe® nomination in the category “Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.”
2017 promises to be Steinfeld’s biggest year yet with more new music on the horizon and a role in Pitch Perfect 3. She is currently featured on Machine Gun Kelly’s new single “At My Best” and has a new single coming this Spring.
JASON DERULO
Singer, songwriter, and dancer Jason Derulo is a multi-faceted, timeless entertainer. To date, the singer, songwriter, and dancer achieved two RIAA platinum albums, Jason Derulo (2010) and Talk Dirty (2014), two gold albums Future History (2011) and Everything Is 4 (2015), and a gold EP Tattoos (2013)—totaling over 12.5 million albums sold globally. A multiplatinum powerhouse with 94 million-plus single equivalent sales worldwide (5.5 billion streams & 58 million downloads), both his introductory breakout “Watcha Say” and “Talk Dirty” [feat. 2 Chainz] reached quadruple-platinum status, while “Want To Want Me” and “Ridin’ Solo” went triple-platinum, and “Trumpets,” “Wiggle” [feat. Snoop Dogg], and “In My Head” earned double-platinum certifications. Platinum singles include “Marry Me,” “The Other Side,” and “It Girl,” while “Get Ugly” and “Don’t Wanna Go Home” went gold. Cumulative streams continue to soar, exceeding 5.5 billion and YouTube views surpass 3 billion. At radio, his music impacted a total audience of 20 billion-plus listeners with a staggering 3.5 million spins. He landed 4 #1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, 6 Top 5 songs, and 11 Top 10 songs.
Whether it’s hosting the hilarious “Toddlerography” on The Late Late Show with James Corden or cameoing on Empire or Lethal Weapon, Derulo has become embedded in the fabric of pop culture. He was on the covers of Billboard Magazine and Forbes Magazine in addition to appearing in Time, People, Men’s Fitness, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Elle, Forbes, and LA Times as well as guest appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America and Live with Kelly. He’s received 3 Teen Choice Awards, 2 BMI Pop Awards, and 1 YouTube Music Award. Derulo proudly stands among history’s most successful artists, and he turns up the heat in 2017 with the explosive new anthem, “Swalla” [feat. Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign].
NIALL HORAN
Capitol Records recording artist Niall Horan made his solo debut in late 2016 with the single “This Town.” The song, which Horan co-wrote, reached #1 in 60 countries in the first 24 hours of its release, became the #1 trending topic worldwide on Twitter and topped the Shazam chart in numerous countries. Combined streams now surpass 250 million worldwide. “This Town” has sold more than 2.5 million track equivalent units globally and is certified Platinum in the U.S. Views of Horan’s “1 Mic 1 Take” performance video exceed 30 million. The 23-year-old artist won his first solo People’s Choice Award in 2016, taking home the award for Favorite Breakout Artist.
Rolling Stone praised the “acoustic, mournful single” and Entertainment Weekly hailed it as “a wistful tale of young love lost.” “‘This Town’ is a lush, guitar-forward ballad,” said TIME while Billboard noted how it “beautifully frames Horan’s talents as a vocalist” and USA Today applauded Horan’s “foot-stomping folk-pop.”
The intimate track gave fans a taste of what they can expect from Horan in 2017. Accompanying himself on piano and guitar, he has been writing new material and finding inspiration in the music he has favored since childhood – artists like Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and Crosby, Stills and Nash.
“Whenever I would pick up a guitar, I would always naturally play chords like that and fingerpick a lot [in] that folkie kind of style,” Horan told Entertainment Weekly. Many of the new songs are acoustic-based, but Horan plays electric guitar on several and the tracks are filled with funky percussion touches.
POST MALONE
Post Malone stirs a mix of genres into his own sonic sound that’s both intoxicating and invigorating on his full-length debut album, Stoney [Republic Records]. His uncanny ability to cook up a 21st century “sauce” of genres transformed the multiplatinum Dallas, TX maverick into the “#1 Debut Hip-Hop Artist of 2016.” Upon release, Stoney bowed at #1 on the iTunes Overall Top Albums Chart and Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200. In just a few months, the debut album has accumulated 1 billion streams, while the RIAA minted his breakout single “White Iverson” triple-platinum, “Congratulations” platinum, and “Go Flex” gold. As he turned up with a whiskey-soaked warbly flow, orchestral trap production, and an acoustic guitar in hand, he earned praise from the Los Angeles Times, Complex, Vibe, The Fader, and more.
Along the way, he served as direct support on Justin Bieber’s worldwide “Purpose” tour and collaborated with the pop superstar on Stoney’s “Déjà vu.”
One day, Post created the beat for “White Iverson” in his bedroom, laid down the vocals, and uploaded it to Soundcloud in 2015. The response proved overwhelming. Before he knew it, the budding star had Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller tweeting him, Noisey and Hypebeast singing his praises, 14 incendiary SXSW performances under his belt, and major labels knocking at his door.
In just six months of its official arrival on Republic Records, “White Iverson” first achieved RIAA Platinum status and he went on the road for Fetty Wap’s “Welcome To The Zoo” tour in early 2016. Kanye West and 50 Cent tapped him for high-profile collaborations, and Jay-Z, Bieber, and many others offered enthusiastic co-signs.
