Frankie Moreno Shares the Stratosphere Stage With Las Vegas Academy Students
Students To Perform at Stratosphere Theater During Special Performances
Students and recent graduates of the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts will get the chance to join Stratosphere headliner Frankie Moreno on stage and perform their own original song before a live audience this summer, during special Wednesday night performances of Frankie Moreno Live at Stratosphere.
The opportunity for these students is part of a growing partnership between the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts (LVA), a public arts magnet school within the Clark County School District, and the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower. Every student who will perform in Moreno’s show plans to pursue a career in music.
“We have been so impressed by the talent and dedication of the Las Vegas Academy students,” said Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower general manager Paul Hobson. “We have the ability at Stratosphere to help these students in their journey to become professional musicians and singers and we are pleased to offer this opportunity.”
The special Frankie Moreno Live at Stratosphere performances on selected Wednesday nights begin this month, and will include LVA vocalists, piano and guitar players. In addition to performing one of their songs before a live audience in the Stratosphere Theater, some of the students may join Moreno’s band for additional songs as part of the show. Students scheduled to appear include Jack Higgins, age 18, Vocalist/Guitar; Brittany McKay, age 18, Vocalist; John Lloyd, age 18, Guitar; and Maejoy Dotdot, age 16, Vocalist/Ukelele.
“These students are unbelievably talented,” said Moreno. “Working with them has been a great experience and I am thrilled to provide them a chance to perform on a Las Vegas Strip stage and showcase their skills to the world.”
In May, Moreno and his brothers, Ricky and Tony Moreno, taught a series of Master Classes offering LVA students instruction in song writing, as well as insight into the music business. The Moreno brothers have co-written songs, which are performed by Frankie Moreno, as well as a number of diverse artists including One Direction, Air Supply and Joshua Bell.
Frankie Moreno performs with his 10-piece band Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. Guests aged 13 to 18 year olds are admitted if they attend with a parent or adult guardian.
Tickets for all ages are $39.99. Locals receive a 25% discount and Stratosphere hotel guests a 50% discount.
Tickets can be purchased at www.stratospherehotel.com or by calling (702) 380-7777.
Other areas of the partnership between the Stratosphere and LVA include the Stratosphere donating half the proceeds from admission to David Perrico – Pop Evolution, which performs the first and third Tuesday of every month in the Stratosphere Theater. Cast and crew from Stratosphere’s original show PIN UP™ staring Claire Sinclair also plan to hold workshops and offer professional guidance to students in the coming school year.
