Goodwill Debuts New Select Store & Drive Thru Donation Center Model in Valley’s Southwest on April 15, 2016 at 9 a.m.
New Store & Donation Model is on Durango, north of Warm Springs; Opening Creates Seven New Jobs
Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s first Goodwill Select Store with a Drive Thru Donation Center will officially open on April 15, 2016 at 9 a.m. in the valley’s booming southwest, with a not-so-typical ribbon cutting featuring a car driving through a banner to showcase the ease of drive thru donating.
The new Goodwill Select model of a smaller footprint store with a full sized drive thru donation center is located at Arby/Durango, just north of Warm Springs at 7036 S. Durango Dr., Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV 89113, behind Cafe Rio.
With an easy to navigate 2,000 square foot sales floor, the Goodwill Select is approximately six times smaller than the typical Goodwill retail store in Southern Nevada. However, the Select Store will feature the same selection of merchandise including clothing, accessories, home goods, decor and furniture.
The fully covered double-lane drive thru donation center will allow donors to drop off goods easily and quickly, without even getting out of their car. Like all donation locations, Goodwill donation ambassadors will staff the drive thru location to provide customer service as well as issue tax deductible receipts.
Seven new full-time positions with Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s retail and operations departments were created to support the new select store and donation location.
“In addition to creating new work opportunities for the community we serve, our goal is provide convenience,” said Chris Matlock, vice president of retail and operations. “The smaller sales floor invites shoppers who may not be familiar with what Goodwill offers to take a peek in a boutique-like setting, while the full-sized drive thru donation center offers a friendly and fast option to donate.”
To celebrate the store model’s debut, every donor at the new Goodwill Select Store on opening day, April 15, will receive a $5 off coupon to shop at any Goodwill retail location in Southern Nevada. The coupons are good for two weeks.
Goodwill of Southern Nevada transforms donated goods and monetary contributions into pathways to meaningful employment for Southern Nevadans in need. In 2015, Goodwill of Southern Nevada successfully placed 2,383 individuals into local, sustainable jobs generating more than $48 million in earned wages.
