HEARTS ALIVE VILLAGE HORSE RESCUE AND SANCTUARY BREAKS GROUND ON A LIFE-SAVING BARN

HEARTS ALIVE VILLAGE HORSE RESCUE AND SANCTUARY
BREAKS GROUND ON A LIFE-SAVING BARN

Hearts Alive Village will conduct a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. The ceremony will be held on the property from 10am-12pm. The non profit’s new barn will be instrumental in saving the lives of vulnerable horses in Las Vegas and surrounding areas.

The new 8400 sq ft structure will feature 10 spacious, indoor/outdoor stalls, custom stocks for medical and farrier care, as well as a small indoor arena.

“We prioritize the rescue and rehabilitation of the most at-risk horses. Our ultimate goal is adoption, but they have sanctuary with us no matter how long that takes.” Says Christy Stevens, Executive Director of Hearts Alive Village

Hearts Alive Village has saved 12 horses and 8 goats at the location since they began to develop the 15 acre property in 2021. They are estimating the barn will take two months to complete now that the permit has been approved by Clark County.

Veterinarian, Dr. Wyatt Winchell of Desert Pines Equine Hospital, is lead veterinarian for the development committee. “Hearts Alive Village Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is going to fill a huge resource gap for horses here in Las Vegas. We have needed a solution to support those who’ve fallen by the wayside due to the financial struggles of their owners. We are thrilled to be involved in the beginning of a new endeavor in stewardship and care for these vulnerable horses.” Says Winchell.

The organization is seeking donations. Pastures, turnouts, and more fencing is needed. The community’s support is critical to achieve the sanctuary’s dream to care for as many as 40 horses. Naming opportunities are available and the organization will be announcing volunteer opportunities this fall. For more information, please go to www.heartsalivevillage.org.
