The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, will open an eight-game homestand on Monday, June 10 against the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field. The four-game series against the Rainiers will conclude on Thursday, June 13 and all games in the series will begin at 7:05 p.m. Las Vegas will then host the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, in a four-game series, from Friday-Monday, June 14-17.

The 51s, under manager Wally Backman, are concluding an eight-game road trip in the Pacific Northwest on Sunday afternoon against the Rainiers. The two teams are playing a home-and-home eight-game series from June 6-13. The Rainiers have the best record in the 16-team PCL with a 38-25 (.603) mark. Las Vegas, 32-28, won a season-high seven straight games from May 29 – June 4. Las Vegas is in second place in the Pacific Southern Division, three games behind the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s.

2013 ATTENDANCE: In 28 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 152,754 for an average of 5,456. Las Vegas’ season-high crowds, which include three sellouts, are 11,776 against Round Rock on May 10 and 11,522 for the 10th Annual School Day Game against Albuquerque on May 14 at Cashman Field. The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 30 seasons (1983-2012) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,139,268. The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada.

Value Menu Monday will be presented in the opener of the homestand on June 10. Monday “home” games will feature a “Value Menu” for the fifth straight season. The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item. Value Menu Monday will also be featured in the homestand finale on June 17.

Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will be featured in the finale of the home-and-home eight-game series against the Rainiers on Thursday. Every Thursday home game throughout the 2013 campaign will feature “Dollar Beers.” Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

Tacoma’s roster features six of the top 10 prospects in the Mariners organization, according to Baseball America: top prospect, catcher Mike Zunino; left-handed pitcher Danny Hultzen (No. 3); left-handed pitcher James Paxton (No. 4); right-handed pitcher Brandon Maurer (No. 6); infielder Stefen Romero (No. 8) and shortstop Brad Miller (No. 9).

A spectacular post-game “Fireworks Show,” sponsored by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) will begin the Father’s Day Weekend, presented by Zappos, in the opener of the four-game series on Friday, June 14 against the Sky Sox at 7:05 p.m. on American Cancer Society Night.

The popular Inside Kids Carnival will be featured on Goodwill of Southern Nevada Night on Saturday, June 15. The carnival will be held inside the air conditioned Cashman Convention Hall from 4 to 6 p.m. and the carnival is free for all fans with a ticket to that night’s game between the 51s- Sky Sox at 7:05 p.m.

Sam’s Club Family 4-Pack Night will be featured three more times during the 2013 season (Saturday, June 15; Friday, July 12; Friday, August 9). The 4-Pack consists of: 4 tickets to the game; 4 hot dogs & 4 sodas; 4 Las Vegas 51s Hats. The ticket packages are priced at $48 (Reserved); $56 (Plaza) and $64 (Field). The Father’s Day game on Sunday, June 16 will feature a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m., the second to the last “Sunday Day Game” in 2013. Fans will have an opportunity to “Play Catch” on the field from 11 to 11:30 a.m., presented by Findlay Volkswagen & Findlay Volkswagen North. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a 51s Barbeque Set.

Colorado Springs’ roster features one of the top 10 prospects in the Rockies organization, according to Baseball America: Infielder Ryan Wheeler (No. 10). Dave Hajek, the hitting coach for the Sky Sox, played for the Las Vegas Stars for two seasons (1997-98). The prolific hitting infielder ranks tied for third all-time in batting average in Las Vegas franchise history with a .331 average (230-for-695), minimum of 600 at-bats (.346, David Cooper; .344, John Kruk; .331, Eddie Williams).

Hajek also ranks second all-time for most hits in a single season with 177 in 1998 (196 hits by Joe Thurston in 2002) and fourth all-time with most at-bats in a single season (539 in 1998).

The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Fox Sports Radio 920 AM, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com. Russ Langer, the eight-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 14th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

Following the homestand, Las Vegas will embark on a brief four-game road trip to Tucson, Ariz., to face the Padres, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, from Tuesday-Friday, June 18-21.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved, $11.00-Day of Game); $13.00 (plaza, $14.00-Day of Game) and $14.00 (field, $15.00-Day of Game). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” on Wednesday, July 3 (all seats are priced at $15.00 for this special event).
