LINKIN PARK

FRIDAY, JANUARY 10 AT 9PM

Tickets on-sale Friday at 10am!

Grammy-Award winning rock band, LINKIN PARK will be bringing their unique and high energy music to The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, January 10. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am.

The SoCal sextet fused electronica, metal and hip-hop on their 2000 debut Hybrid Theory—and made instant history. Their infectious singles overwhelmed radio formats and the Billboard charts, making it the best selling album in the world that year. With three Grammy nominations (they’ve had six to date), a statuette for Best Hard Rock Performance, and later, the extraordinary Diamond certification, Hybrid Theory sold over 18 million copies worldwide. Linkin Park gave expertly-articulated voice to their audience’s feral rage (“One Step Closer”), insecurity (“Crawling”) and fallibility (“In the End”). They came, saw, and conquered the world in their rookie year.

The six friends with a dynamic assortment of talents—co-frontmen Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, turntablist/video director Joe Hahn, percussionist Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson and bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell—set about staying multiple steps ahead of the increasingly derivative competition. Bennington’s lycanthropic croon-to-howl transformations offset Shinoda’s pointed, earnest MC screeds, while new singles like “Somewhere I Belong,” “Numb” and “Breaking the Habit” struck a perfect balance between processed and organic, anthemic and intimate. Sophomore sensation Meteora proved the band’s first album wasn’t a fluke, taking the successes of the first album and expanding upon them, sonically and emotionally.

From that point on, the band fully embraced the eclecticism hinted at in the first two records: they joined forces with hip-hop legend Jay-Z in 2004 for the groundbreaking mash-up Collision Course EP. It was a catalyst for great exploration… and great risk. Minutes to Midnight was the first of three boundary-pushing, full-length partnerships with iconic producer Rick Rubin (Beastie Boys, Metallica, Adele), followed by the daring, socio-political concept epic A Thousand Suns.

With so many forward-thinking looks in a catalog of just four albums, the band found imaginative ways of tying them together in 2012’s diverse LIVING THINGS. Like all of their prior records, it bowed at number one on the Billboard 200 (and like all of their releases in the prior ten years, debuted at #1 in over 20 countries). This would be another historic achievement—Linkin Park is the first and only band to score five consecutive number one album debuts this century.

Linkin Park’s global touring numbers are even more ridiculous than their album sales. On their most recent tour cycle, the band played to over a million people, in 79 shows, on six continents. Since their inception, Linkin Park have prioritized exploring innovative means of connecting with their vast fan base. They were among the first artists to capitalize on the power of social media—it’s no accident that they’re the biggest rock group on Facebook, with over 57 million likes as of the fall of 2013.

Indeed, “A LIGHT THAT NEVER COMES” speaks to Linkin Park’s artistic restlessness. A collaboration with electro-house/dubstep musician and producer Steve Aoki, the single brings the electronic elements Linkin Park have always utilized to the forefront—it stands as another curveball from a constantly evolving outfit, ever intent on “building it up to break it back down.” The song appears on the recently released album, RECHARGED, which features new interpretations of songs from LIVING THINGS.
