Luxor ‘Prop’erly Extends Iconic Comedian Carrot Top’s Las Vegas Residency into 2025
MGM Resorts Executives Surprise Carrot Top with Contract Extension
After an unprecedented 15-year run, Luxor Hotel and Casino has announced a five-year contract renewal with world-renowned comedian Scott “Carrot Top” Thompson who will continue performing his hit Las Vegas show to 2025. During last night’s show, MGM Resorts executives surprised Carrot Top by joining him on stage immediately following his final act to announce the extended residency creating an over the ‘top’ celebration.
With three decades of comedic performance in his rear-view mirror, Carrot Top is one of the most popular, recognizable and successful comedians in the nation. Not only has he cemented his role as a Las Vegas icon, the extension of his headlining residency solidifies “Carrot Top” as the longest running comedy show in MGM Resorts history.
“Carrot Top has been entertaining crowds at Luxor since 2005 and we are very excited that Luxor will continue to be his home for many more years,” said MGM Resorts’ President of Entertainment & Sports George Kliavkoff. “Visitors come to Las Vegas from all around the world to let their hair down, escape and have a few laughs. Carrot Top’s show delivers on all of that.”
Carrot Top’s successful and storied career has allowed him to develop a completely unique genre of comedy that is self-explained as a combination of George Carlin (for his “observational humor”), Steven Wright (for his “dark, sick humor”), and Gallagher (for his use of props). Utilizing that one-of-a-kind style, the resident show is ever-evolving and has become a Las Vegas staple, reflecting current headlines, consistently poking fun at pop culture, politics and music.
“Being able to call Las Vegas home for the past 15 years has been an incredible experience that has allowed me to explore and expand my comedy as well as put down roots in this great city,” said Carrot Top. “I consider myself very fortunate to have had this opportunity and look forward to many more years of making people laugh here at Luxor.”
Carrot Top performs six nights a week inside the Atrium Showroom. For tickets or additional information please visit mgmresorts.com/luxor. Tickets start at $40 (not including taxes and fees) and can be purchased online or at any Luxor box office.
