LVMPD Foundation Hosts Inaugural
Southern Nevada Business Leaders Forum
Marc Badain, Commissioner Michael Naft discuss Oak View’s plans to develop resort/casino/hotel with NBA-ready arena on 300-plus acres on S. Las Vegas Blvd.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation hosted the first installment of the Southern Nevada Business Leaders Forum on Wednesday, June 29, at Cili Bali Hai. The event is designed to bring together leading voices of the business community to discuss critical challenges and opportunities through the lens of public-private partnerships that promote positive community-police engagement activities. This, in turn, fuels a stronger economy.
At the event, Tina Quigley, CEO, Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), moderated a panel discussion with Marc Badain, President, Oak View Group Las Vegas Sports and Entertainment, and Michael Naft, Clark County Commissioner, District A. The discussion focused on Oak View’s plans to develop an integrated resort/casino with an NBA-ready arena on 300-plus acres of land on South Las Vegas Blvd. The project is expected to break ground next year with a targeted completion of 2026.
Acknowledging the significant role played by Metro in the successful development Allegiant Stadium, Badain confirmed that Oak View’s project would be developed with Metro’s input on traffic, safety, and security plans to ensure it is not only best-in-class but designed to well support the community and enhance public safety.
According to Tom Kovach, Executive Director of the LVMPD Foundation, host organization of the Southern Nevada Business Leaders Forum, a stronger economy starts with a safer community, the guiding tenet of the Foundation’s work to bring to fruition a state-of-the-art training center for local law enforcement.
“Our focus is the development of the new Reality Based Training Center on the campus of the Joint Emergency Training Institute and providing the resources for positive community-police engagement activities that help fuel a stronger economy,” said Kovach. “The center is already in operation to provide best-in-class, high-tech, tactical training to local law enforcement, helping to ensure public safety, which is critical to a thriving economy. To date, we’ve raised more than $25 million with another $7 million left to complete the first phase of what is the only training center of its kind in the nation.”
