MGM GRAND SELECTS CUSTOMIZED WOODFORD RESERVE
DOUBLE OAKED SINGLE BARREL CRAFT BOURBON

Resort becomes first Las Vegas property to participate in newly launched
small-batch customized spirit program

MGM Grand Hotel & Casino is the first Las Vegas resort to select a customized craft bourbon through the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Single Barrel-by-the-Barrel program. The property’s knowledgeable beverage team recently traveled to Kentucky and sipped samples from three of the distillery’s finest barrels before determining the perfect fit for MGM Grand’s portfolio. The chosen spirit features caramel and apple notes and can be enjoyed straight up, on the rocks or mixed in guests’ favorite cocktails.

The MGM Grand bartending staff engaged in a property-wide mixology competition in which they were tasked with creating an original concoction using Woodford Reserve Double Oaked as the base spirit. The winning cocktail, Woodford Double Peach, created by John Clair, Gabriel Sumsion and Amy Meng of Fiamma Trattoria & Bar, combines MGM Grand’s personalized Woodford Reserve Double Oaked bourbon, peach syrup, peach bitters and fresh squeezed lemon juice, strained and served in a martini glass. The Woodford Double Peach will be available for purchase at Fiamma in late June and is priced at $15.

“MGM Grand’s beverage program offers guests a variety of memorable drink options from world-renowned wine lists, specialty imported beers and rare sakes to cutting edge mixology,” said MGM Grand Director of Food and Beverage Daniel Adams. “We are proud to add Woodford Reserve’s Double Oaked Single Barrel, which will elevate the property’s already impressive spirit line-up, by presenting a one-of-a-kind beverage experience available only at our resort.”

Double Oaked is the first permanent line extension to be introduced in the history of the prestigious distillery, known for crafting the finest small batch bourbons. The secret to Double Oaked’s distinct notes lies in the twice barreling process. The first barrel is seasoned outside for nine months then toasted and charred before housing the spirit. The batch is then transferred to a second white oak barrel that has undergone the same process, but for twice the amount of time, creating bold, deep, oaky flavors. This process results in spirits with unique flavor profiles as no two batches of Double Oaked are the same. The spirit will be delivered to the hotel in bottles with MGM Grand-specific medallions, along with a personalized barrel head.
