On Thursday, April 25, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will serve as the official headquarters for Nevada’s Big Give, 24 hours of online giving supporting nonprofits serving the state of Nevada.
The campaign will operate out of a retail store located between House of Hoops by Foot Locker and Las Vegas Fight Shop. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and make a donation to their favorite charity. While there, guests may also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win themed prize packages, including a Girls Weekend package ($2,960 value), a Foodie package ($1,255 value) a Music package ($1,800 value) and more. Raffle tickets $25 each or five for $100. All day, the center’s exterior, Strip-side LED screens will display the total amount of money raised during Nevada’s Big Give.
As part of its partnership with Nevada’s Big Give, Miracle Mile Shops will provide five $1,000 cash donations called “Golden Tickets” to five different nonprofits that will be selected at random. Each charity that receives a donation online during the hour before a Golden Ticket drawing will be automatically eligible to win the $1,000 prize. Winners will be selected at random throughout the day and announced on Nevada’s Big Give’s Twitter (@NVBIGGIVE) and Facebook pages.
Additionally, between 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., local celebrities and community leaders, including Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and BMX rider Ricardo Laguna, will visit Nevada’s Big Give headquarters inside Miracle Mile Shops to make personal contributions to the campaign. Select restaurants will feature light bites at the retail space for guests and volunteers.
In its inaugural year, Nevada’s Big Give raised more than $413,000 for local nonprofits. This year, the organization hopes to raise $1 million for Nevada charities within one day. The initiative, launched by NevadaGIVES, is a unique, high-visibility promotion of personal giving designed to bring new donors and dollars to nonprofit organizations throughout the state.
Miracle Mile Shops’ partnership with Nevada’s Big Give is part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing campaign, celebrating a year of change in 2013. The Caring, Giving, Changing campaign raises funds for local charities and organizations through monthly fountain fundraisers, community sponsorships, additional partnerships and a number of cash and in-kind donations.
Established in 2003, NevadaGIVES is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to increase awareness of philanthropy so more people give back in a way that is meaningful to them. The goal is to build a vibrant, effective and growing philanthropic community that improves the quality of life for all Nevadans, as well as to support volunteerism by serving as an informational resource. Nevada’s Big Give:
The second statewide online giving initiative, Nevada’s Big Give, will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013. Nevada’s Big Give is a day of online giving that benefits charities across the state. This initiative, launched by NevadaGIVES, is a unique, high-visibility promotion of personal giving designed to bring new donors and dollars to nonprofit organizations throughout the state.
Unlike any other philanthropic event, Nevada’s Big Give is an opportunity to benefit all Nevada nonprofits by activating donations online. It’s as simple as: Point. Click. Give. Every registered 501(c)(3) organization in Nevada is eligible to participate and receive donations on April 25th through the website www.NVBigGive.org. Charities that participated last year will automatically be signed up. After more than $400,000 was raised in the first year of the event, the goal this year is to raise double that in one 24-hour period for nonprofits across the state by encouraging Nevadans to give where they live.
