Nevada Public Radio To Host Free Recycling Day Event

Saturday, November 16 – 8 a.m. until Noon

 

On the heels of America Recycles Day (Nov. 15), for the third year Nevada Public Radio brings together multiple organizations that specialize in or benefit from recycling for a community-wide fall Recycling Day – Saturday, Nov. 16 from 8 a.m. until noon. The Recycling Day is free and open to the public. Subaru of Las Vegas is presenting sponsor of the event.

Nevada Public Radio will hold the Recycling Day in the parking lot at The Donald W. Reynolds Broadcast Center on the Campus on the College of Southern Nevada (1289 S. Torrey Pines Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89146). Participating sponsors of the Recycling Day and services available are:

Blind Center of Nevada: recycling or re-purposing electronics such as computers (including data erasing,) printers, appliances, mobile phones, etc.

Republic Services: recycling of commingled household and business recyclables such as plastic bottles, metals including steel and aluminum cans, cardboard, magazines, newspapers, junk mail, phone books, paper bags and glass (separation of materials is not required).

Shred-it: paper shredding, document destruction and computer hard drive destruction for working and non-working hard drives. Hard drives must be removed from the computer before they will be crushed and the crushed hard drive remains will be recycled. A limit of four boxes of shredding per car will be enforced.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Inc.: clothes, shoes and boots, purses and accessories, books, CD/DVD/Blu-ray, games and toys, dishes, linens, housewares, home and holiday décor, musical instruments, sporting goods, framed art and collectibles, furniture and tools.
