UNLV SOFTBALL FACES TOUGH TEST AT TRAILBLAZER TOURNAMENT
Rebels put a seven-game winning streak on the line Friday versus BYU
UNLV faces its toughest challenge of the young season as it visits St. George, Utah, for the Utah Tech Trailblazers Tournament this weekend.
Winners of seven straight games, UNLV (10-5) meets BYU (8-5), Oregon State, Utah Valley, Portland State and host Utah Tech, respectively, starting Friday, March 3.
The Rebels and Cougars kick off the weekend with a 2 p.m. PT start on Friday at Karl Brooks Field. UNLV then plays back-to-back Saturday against Oregon State and Utah Valley at Bloomington Park before finishing with two games on Sunday versus Portland State and Utah Tech at Karl Brooks Field.
Jasmine Martin, this week’s Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, and Jessie Fontes, last week’s pitcher of the week, lead the Rebels’ defense in the circle.
Sofia Morales batted .600 in last weekend’s Jim Frost Classic to lead the Rebels at the plate. Lauryn Barker scored three runs and hit two RBIs, April Visser batted in four runs and Janyssa Martin and Ariana Martinez each homered as UNLV went 4-0 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
UNLV’s games played at Karl Brooks Field (Friday and Saturday) will be streamed live on WAC International TV.
