The UNLV track & field team will continue their outdoor campaign with a pair of meets over the week in the Golden State at Bryan Clay Invitational April 17-18 and the Mt. SAC Relays April 19.
The Bryan Clay Invitational will take place on the campus of Azusa Pacific at the Cougar Athletics Stadium in Azusa, California. Furthermore, Mt. SAC Relays will take place on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College at the Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, California. The Rebels will see sprinters and throwers competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational, while the Mt. SAC Relays will see a handful of sprinters compete on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT: The Rebels secured eight personal bests at the UNLV Rebel ELITE April 4-5. Additionally, the 4x100m relay team of Sadia Green, Kennedi Porter, AnnaKay Maitland and Jaydea Carter took home first place with a time of 44.86 seconds.
MOUNTAIN WEST LEADERS: The Rebels have a handful of student-athletes positioned in the top 15 in the Mountain West rankings. Kennedi Porter (11.56), AnnaKay Maitland (11.71) and Gabriella Caldwell are second, tied for fifth and 11th, respectively, in the 100m. Porter sits first in the 200m (23.04), while Jaydea Carter is fifth (23.62) in the same event. Additionally, Carter’s 13.38 time in the 100m hurdles is second overall. Kaelin Gowdy sits ninth in the 400m (55.87) and Sadia Green is 15th (56.47). Natalia Ruiz’s time of 4:28.43 in the 1500m sits ninth, while her 5000m time of 16:39.74 is 12th in the conference.
In the field events, Grace Cunningham is tied for first in the high jump (1.76m, 5′ 9.25″). In the same event, Erin Thompson sits tied for 15th (1.60m, 5′ 3″), while Juliana Roberson sits fifth in the triple jump (12.39m, 40′ 7.75″). In the shot put, Krishna Jayasankar is third in the shot put (15.87m, 52′ 1″) and Roxene Simpson sits 11th (13.14m, 43′ 1.5″). Jayasankar is fifth in the discus (51.56m, 169′ 5″), while Simpson ranks seventh (49.43m, 162′ 2″). Moreover, Sophia Clark sits 13th in the discus with a mark of 40.72m (133′ 7″).
