End childhood cancer one step at a time with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

Las Vegas residents will join 65 communities for St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer on Sept. 15

This September, thousands of individuals nationwide will join together in the battle against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases by participating in the Las Vegas St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer. Las Vegas is one of 65 cities nationwide helping raise funds and awareness during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

On Saturday, July 28, a Kick-Off Party will be held at Cashman Field, in partnership with the Las Vegas 51s, the 2018 St. Jude Walk/Run Course Sponsor. This is a great opportunity for team captains, sponsors and interested participants to learn more about the St. Jude Walk/Run and how their support impacts the families of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Las Vegas 51s have supported the St. Jude Walk/Run for the past two years and stepped up their efforts this year. Players recently participated in a photo shoot featuring the team wearing the This Shirt Saves Lives t-shirt. This Shirt Saves Lives is a simple message but it could not be more true. St. Jude is saving young lives every day. But, they can’t do it without the support of generous donors. The T-shirt is available exclusively to those who become “Partners In Hope,” donors who give $20 per month to the hospital’s lifesaving work. To join the nationwide movement, individuals pledge $20 a month through www.thisshirtsaveslives.org. “Partners In Hope” are encouraged to wear their This Shirt Saves Lives shirt, snap a photo, share it through social media using the hastag #thisshirtsaveslives.

Because of generous donors and events like the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. With the support of participants, donors and more, we can end childhood cancer together.
