Every child deserves a learning environment that’s safe, comfortable and free of harmful toxins.  Unfortunately, many schools across the country lack the funds to carry out much-needed repairs and renovations – subjecting children to outdated facilities with improper ventilation, poor lighting and inefficient energy usage.  Global Green USA is working to address this situation and ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn in a healthy, green school.  This year, Pureology is pleased to present the 2nd Global Green USA Green School Makeover Competition.  From January 1 to March 31, 2013, a parent, teacher, student or individual can nominate any K – 12 public, private or charter school they think deserves a Green School Makeover!

Why Green Schools?

When a school goes green, children benefit – as well as the environment. Green schools lead to:

  • Replacing outdated or unsafe carpets and other materials with new, non-toxic ones

The Ultimate Sports Fans’ Handicapping Contest Begins March 15

March is the month of money mayhem as the historic Riviera Hotel & Casino hosts the “March $1,000,000 Tournament Challenge.” This first-of-its-kind college handicapping contest on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip combines contestants’ knowledge of teams with an unbeatable party atmosphere to create an event that is second to none.

The Tournament Challenge features 100 percent payback from the entry fees, with a $1 million prize pool (based on 1,000 total entrants). Entries for the handicapping contest are $1,000. Contestants select winning teams and point totals listed on the daily contest sheet, totaling 64 selections – 48 sides and 16 totals – over the course of the four days of the first two rounds. The winners will be announced on Sunday, March 18, after the final game of the day. The first 100 entrants who sign up and pay prior to Feb. 13 will get $100 off their entry fee and reserved seating in viewing area.

“Las Vegas has become the de facto place to experience the tournament at its fullest,” says Andy Choy, president & CEO of the Riviera Hotel & Casino. “Our customers were clamoring for something more exciting than the traditional ‘office pool’ bracket contest. So we shortened the contest and increased the prize pool. 1,000 entries. $1 million prize pool. No vig. It doesn’t get better than that.”

In addition, various activities will be held between games and during breaks to make this a fantastic, sports-filled weekend. Contestants can compete in a beer pong competition and free throw shooting contest during the Tournament Challenge. Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club has signed on as the exclusive sponsor of a 3-on-3 Bikini Basketball Tournament, to be played by the scintillating girls of Sapphire.

The contest is open to anyone 21 years of age or older. A valid ID must be presented upon contest registration as well as when daily selections are made. The registration deadline is Thursday, March 15, at 8 a.m. Daily contest sheets will be available on Wednesday, March 14. Contestants can sign up inside the Riviera or by calling 1-800-637-5687.
