“THE HANGOVER EXPERIENCE,” NEW
“ALAN” FIGURE AT 3 P.M.

On Thursday, Jan. 1, The Hangover is coming to life. Madame Tussauds Las Vegas will launch its newest themed room: The Hangover Experience complete with the notorious hotel room and a wedding chapel. Also making its debut will be Madame Tussauds’ brand new figure of “Alan” (played by Zach Galifianakis in The Hangover films) who will be joining the figure of “Phil” (played by Bradley Cooper in the films). The 1,100-square-foot room, based on Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Hangover, pays homage to the popular comedy trilogy, whose original movie turns five this year.

The newest wax figure to join the Wolf Pack will be of Zach Galifianakis as “Alan,” appropriately styled in his iconic “Human Tree” T-shirt, white jeans, sneakers and, of course, his famous satchel.

A national sweepstakes is now launched with a grand prize including roundtrip airfare for two to Las Vegas, Nevada, a two-night stay at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, a VIP tour of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas and The Hangover Experience, The Hangover Trilogy prize pack and dinner for two. To enter, visit www.MadameTussauds.com/LasVegas/TheHangoverExperience.

Created in conjunction with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Madame Tussauds began creating The Hangover Experience in July 2014. As for the creation of the “Alan” figure, a team of 20 Madame Tussauds studio artists began creating in March 2014. They were inspired by his comic demeanor in the film including his ensemble, as well as his look and mannerisms.

The team began the process by researching and incorporating more than 200 measurements for the initial clay mold. Once the clay mold was completed, the artists created a plaster cast, into which they poured a mixture of beeswax and Japan wax. Over the course of six weeks, one artist inserted each strand of hair by hand, sporting up to 10,000 strands. Lastly, acrylic eyes and teeth, as well as lifelike paint were added as the finishing touches.

Madame Tussauds Launches New Sweepstakes

It was the bachelor party that set a new standard for Las Vegas, and this January, the epic adventure is coming to life. Madame Tussauds Las Vegas will launch its newest themed room: The Hangover Experience complete with the notorious hotel room, a smashed replica of the Las Vegas Metropolitan police car and a wedding chapel.

On Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 – also known as National Hangover Day – media will be invited to the infamous scenes where the films’ shenanigans took place.  Due to limited space, the event will be invitation-only. The Hangover Experience will officially debut to the general public at 4 p.m. that same day.

The newest wax figure to join the Wolf Pack will be of Zach Galifianakis as “Alan,” appropriately styled in his iconic “Human Tree” T-shirt, white jeans, sneakers and, of course, his famous satchel.

The Nevada Film Office says the film’s influence can still be felt to this day – from guests asking Caesars Palace’s front desk if Caesar indeed slept there, to visitors wanting to see all of the sites featured in the movie. To date, The Hangover remains the highest grossing R-rated film of all time with a domestic gross of $300 million. According to the NFO, The Hangover was shot over 15 days bringing nearly a $4 million economic boost to the area.

The Hangover has been a great movie for Las Vegas, inspiring countless visitors to experience the destination for themselves,” says Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “This new attraction at Madame Tussauds is an excellent example of how Las Vegas continues to offer visitors new and unique world-class experiences – all of which offer more reasons to plan their next Las Vegas trip.”

Registration Now Open for Scale the Strat on March 1, 2015 at Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas

Scale the Strat

Registration Now Open for Scale the Strat on March 1, 2015

7th Annual Extreme Stair Climb benefits American Lung Association in Nevada

Scale the Strat to be 3rd Annual USA Stair Climbing Championship

The first step is easy.  It is the next 1,455 steps that are the challenge. Yes, you read that right.  One thousand four hundred fifty-five steps.

Registration is now open for Scale the Strat on Sunday, March 1, 2015.  Those wanting to climb all 108 floors of stairs inside the iconic Stratosphere Tower, the highest building west of the Mississippi River, can sign up by going to www.ScaleTheStrat.com.  Simple, right?

Once registered, participants will join hundreds of athletes of all abilities who dare to take on this extreme stair climb with the goal to raise money for the American Lung Association in Nevada’s mission of preventing lung diseases and promoting lung health.

This year, Scale the Strat will be held in conjunction with the third annual USA Stair Climb Championship, which will attract elite stair climbers from all over the world and allow amateur climbers the opportunity to rub elbows with the best athletes in the sport.

“Make no mistake, walking or running all the flights inside this iconic tower is a challenge.  But we climb for all those who struggle to breathe every day,” said American Lung Association in Nevada Executive Director Allison Newlon Moser. “It has been exciting to see Scale the Strat grow and become a signature event in Las Vegas and in the world of elite stair climbing.”

Seven years ago, 110 people took on the challenge.  In 2014, close to 600 people climbed the stairs inside Stratosphere Tower raising an impressive $202,960 for the American Lung Association in Nevada in one day.   Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has been the presenting sponsor since the event’s inception.

Climbers who register for Scale the Strat 2015 before December 31, 2014 will receive a special “early bird” discounted registration rate of $40.  Starting January 1, 2015 registration is $60, and day of event registration is $75.   In addition to the registration fee, all climbers are asked to make a minimum fundraising pledge of $150.  Online support and personal fundraising coaching is available online.

Participants will be placed into a starting gate queue in groups, then released one-by-one at timed intervals.  Each athlete will be able to climb the Tower once.

“This event is one of the rare occasions when we open the stairwells of our iconic Stratosphere Tower to the public,” said Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower General Manager Paul Hobson.  “Our team is committed to providing each athlete and their friends and families the best experience possible.  Both inside the stairwells, and outside the stairwells so they can enjoy all that Stratosphere has to offer.”

Climbers can pick up their packets the day of the event, or attend a weekend kick off the Friday before climb day and pick up their packet at a special Happy Hour at McCall’s Heartland Grill at Stratosphere. Those wishing to spend the weekend at Stratosphere can use the code C-ALA15 for a special room rate of $32 Thursday, February 26, 2015; Sunday and Monday, March 1 and 2, 2015; and $52 on Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28, 2015, plus tax and a $17.99 nightly resort fee.  Book online at www.StratosphereHotel.com.

Registration and additional information about Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower can be found at www.ScaletheStrat.com.
