HAIR COLORIST TO THE STARS MICHAEL BOYCHUCK ANTICIPATES SPRING’S HOTTEST BEAUTY TRENDS
Michael Boychuck, Las Vegas’ leading beauty expert and owner of the city’s trendiest salons, gives insight to what is anticipated to be the most sought-after hair trends this spring.
“This spring is going to be all about color,” says Boychuck. “Traditionally, women lighten up their locks with highlights, but this year we’ll see hair accented with a pop of color.”
From amethyst to orange and pink shades, ladies will add a few of these colorful streaks toward the front section of their hair giving an understated peek-a-boo effect which gives hair a fun edge.
For the women who have reservations about coloring their hair with an eccentric hue, not to worry, there are colored hair extensions that can be used to achieve this look.
Aside from the season’s hot color trends, styled hair will be on the rise.
“Ponytails will be huge this season because they are a very flexible look,” says the hair extraordinaire. “Tousled, sleek, side-swept, you name it – the ponytail can be modified to make for a stunning hair style on the red carpet, or simple everyday look.”
A new trend that will not go unnoticed is the looped-ponytail. A sort of cross between a traditional bun and ponytail will be a very chic, sophisticated style. The easy-to-do look can be achieved by gathering hair into a low pony, but instead of pulling hair all the way through the elastic, form a loop and let a few inches of ends of the hair hanging to wrap around the base.
In conjunction with the looped-ponytail trend is the classic top knot. A popular trend among celebs and runway shows, this look does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
“The topknot can be worn sleek and stylish, or loose and messy,” said Boychuck. “It’s a versatile look that always turns heads.”
Michael Boychuck helped ignite the Las Vegas salon industry in 1998 when he helped open a branch of Laurent D’s Beverly Hills salon, Prive at Bellagio. He went on to direct the Salon at Canyon Ranch at The Venetian for several years where he secured his status as the city’s leading beauty expert. In 2001, Boychuck branched off and partnered with business mogul and hotelier George Maloof to open AMP salon at the Palms. AMP is known for its laid back style and is popular among the city’s most stylish locals. Boychuck opened his largest salon, COLOR, in late 2007 at Caesars Palace. Its luxurious design by Faye Resnick provides guests with style, in style. In 2008, he opened PRIMP. The minimalistic salon is an oasis for guests and residents alike at the lush Palms Place.
Best known for his work with longtime clients and friends Paris and Nicky Hilton, Boychuck and his salons have an impressive celebrity client roster that includes Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Eva Longoria, Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst, Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas, Jennie Garth, Willa Ford, Shannon Doherty, Donna D’Errico, Josie Bissett, Kathy Hilton and Susan Anton. The celebrity hair colorist has also been featured in Paris Hilton’s hit TV show “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” and “The World According to Paris.”
In recent years, Boychuck and his salons have received commendable accolades as he was named one of the “Top 50 Hairstylists” in the book by Rick Morton, “Las Vegas Colorist of the Decade” by leading hair care company Schwarzkopf Professional and COLOR Salon was named “Top Las Vegas Salon” by the Las Vegas Nightlife Network. In 2009, Boychuck and all three of his salons had a clean sweep in all categories at the Las Vegas Hair Wars contest including “Best Salon,” “Best Make-up Artist,” “Best Extensions” and “Overall Hair Wars Winner.” This year, COLOR Salon was recognized by Elle magazine as a “Top 100 Salon” and AMP Salon was named “Best Hair Salon” by Las Vegas Localites.
