Happy Trails, Vegas Vickie: Downtown Las Vegas Kicking Cowgirl to be Lowered June 12

HAPPY TRAILS, VEGAS VICKIE:

DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS’ BELOVED KICKING COWGIRL TO RIDE INTO THE SUNSET ON JUNE 12

Iconic Neon Sign to be Taken Down as Part of Construction for New Downtown Las Vegas Resort-Casino

Downtown Las Vegas’ beloved cowgirl, Vegas Vickie, will kick her legs one last time before being lowered from her perch overlooking Fremont Street Experience on Monday, June 12. An iconic piece of Las Vegas history, the neon sign will be taken down as part of the construction for the highly anticipated resort-casino slated to transform the space previously occupied by Las Vegas Club.

“I have always been a big fan of Vickie’s, but we know she’s ready for some much need rest and relaxation,” said Derek Stevens, CEO of the D Las Vegas, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino and the upcoming resort project. “We are on the active hunt to find the best home possible for our girl, as she is truly a key part of the Las Vegas story.”

Originally dubbed Sassy Sally after a casino of that name, the sign was created in 1980 by Ad Art’s Jack Dubois and Charles Barnard for Bob Stupak’s Glitter Gulch. She was later called Vegas Vickie, and gained national attention in 1994 when she “married” her neighboring neon cowboy, Vegas Vic, who currently stands over the former Pioneer Club building.

Nevada Stupak, the son of Bob Stupak, said “Vegas Vickie has brought joy to so many people from around the world, and we hope locals and tourists alike will stop by to take a photo with her one last time.”

In 2016, Derek and Greg Stevens acquired three Granite Gaming Group properties, including Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch, Mermaids and La Bayou casinos. Glitter Gulch and Mermaids will be incorporated into their plans for the site of the Las Vegas Club, which will become a new resort-casino concept on the world-famous Fremont Street Experience.

Las Vegas residents are encouraged to pay homage to Vegas Vickie before she saddles up for her next adventure. Along with Vegas Vickie, the letters found in the Las Vegas Club signage will be removed Monday as well.

About Survivor:
Legendary rock band Survivor is embarking on their next chapter with a new member who has seemingly given new life to one of rock ‘n’ roll’s preeminent bands. With 21-year-old Nashville resident Cameron Barton assuming lead vocalist duties, the group will take their trademark arena rock sound to their loyal and devoted fan base.

Survivor released their first album in 1980 on Scotti Brothers. Their first Top-40 on the Hot 100 came the next year with “Poor Man’s Son.” Their big break would come in 1982 when the band was asked by Sylvester Stallone to provide the theme song for Rocky III. That single, “Eye Of The Tiger,” hit #1 – staying there for seven weeks, winning a Grammy for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, a People’s Choice Award, Academy Award and a Golden Globe nomination. The song came in at #18 on the “Top 100 Singles” chart in Billboard‘s 100th Anniversary issue and it’s well over the 300,000 mark on iTunes, where it’s currently holding strong at #9 on their “Top Soundtrack” chart. The band also struck paydirt as a result of a Stallone movie when “Burning Heart” appeared on the soundtrack of Rocky IV in 1985, hitting #2 on the singles chart. VITAL SIGNS, was another huge success for the band, peaking at #16 on Billboard‘s “Top 200 Albums” chart thanks to the Billboard Top-20 hits “I Can’t Hold Back” (#13), “High On You” (#8) and “The Search Is Over” (#4).

Golden Nugget Las Vegas Launches Sports Wagering App, Jan. 19

Golden Nugget Sports Wagering App allows guests 21 and up to bet from anywhere in Nevada

Golden Nugget Las Vegas released a sports wagering app Thursday, Jan. 19. Developed with Miomni Gaming, the Golden Nugget Sports Wagering App offers bettors the comfort and convenience of being able to wager from anywhere in the state of Nevada – from poolside at The Tank to the comfort of a suite at the downtown resort and casino and beyond.

As the only independently operated sports book downtown, Golden Nugget Las Vegas offers its own lines and odds, taking wagers on many events and proposition books that several of its competitors won’t.

“The Golden Nugget Sports Wagering App will be one of the best in Las Vegas due to independent lines and odds, and many, many events and props that other books just do not have,” said Golden Nugget Director of Race and Sports Tony Miller.

The Golden Nugget Sports Wagering App will carry all bet types currently offered at the Race and Sports Book including straight bets, money lines, totals, parlays, match-ups, futures, and propositions.

Featuring a giant video wall, plus a screen at every seat, the Golden Nugget Las Vegas Race and Sports Book features more televisions per square foot than any other book in Nevada. Luxurious booths and cool décor make it the perfect place to spend a game night, a race day, or for an entire Sunday of football, and more football.

To sign up for the Golden Nugget Sports Wagering App, guests 21 and up can visit the Golden Nugget Las Vegas Race and Sports Book with a valid photo ID and social security number and place a cash deposit. For more information, visit www.goldennugget.com or call (702) 385-7111.
