Project 150, helping homeless high school students, to benefit


The iconic Gold Mine Tavern, located on historic Water Street, will host an exciting night of entertainment on September 13 to benefit Project 150, which helps homeless and displaced high school students in Southern Nevada. The event that works in partnership with Hellkat Productions, a Las Vegas-based company that puts car shows together, will feature a display of unique and historic vehicles, along with music from The Royal Hounds, a high-energy rockabilly trio from Tennessee that is now locally based. Guests will enjoy drink specials from sponsors Jim Beam Kentucky FIRE and Miller Lite.*

Proceeds from a silent auction-style raffle and a donation by The Gold Mine Tavern of $1 for every signature “FIRE APPLE” shot sold will benefit Project 150, an organization that helps homeless and displaced students in Clark County stay in school by providing everyday basics. Raffle prizes will include Maverick Helicopter tour for two, Las Vegas Strip show tickets and gift baskets. Guests at the event are also asked to bring other items of value for Project 150, which include school supplies, food establishment gift cards, undergarments, toiletries and gently used jackets and coats.

The historic Gold Mine Tavern, Water Street’s longest continuously run business, will host Water Street’s largest party during Super Run Car Show Weekend held September 25-28, 2014. Super Run, an automotive event open to all years, makes and models of vehicles, attracts around 150,000 visitors to Downtown Henderson each year. Now an annual tradition, The Gold Mine Tavern, will offer drink specials including Bud Light, Patron as well as Bloody Marys and Red Bull vodkas featuring Tito’s Handmade Vodka. There will be a food truck on site and live music throughout the weekend*.

Event held in partnership with Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association
will collect goods and money for Nevada State Veterans Home, located in Boulder City

 

 
 The iconic Gold Mine Tavern on Water Street will host the 2nd annual Wish List Drive & Biker Appreciation Night, a 21+ event that benefits the Nevada State Veterans Home located in Boulder City, on June 20 at 5 p.m. The festivities, held in partnership with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA), will collect items that veterans in need put on their “wish lists”in addition to funds. The good cause will take on a lively atmosphere with drink specials, free food, a bikini bike wash and live music from Daze Gone By*.

 

“As the longest continuously run business on Water Street, The Gold Mine Tavern wants to give back to the community that has been so good to us,”said Tim Haughinberry, owner of The Gold Mine Tavern. “This is a great way to help those who served our country while having fun.”

 

Items requested by the veterans include, but are not limited to, restaurant and phone gift cards, hats, travel size toiletries, forever stamps from the US Postal Service, picture frames and puzzle books. Admission to the event is free, so donations of goods are strongly encouraged. A raffle will be held and funds collected will go toward the purchase of additional items. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, the partner teaming up with The Gold Mine Tavern for this year’s event, is a non-profit group of military veterans from all branches of service.  

 

“All members share a common bond of combat service, a love of riding motorcycles and a deep-rooted desire to help fellow veterans from all eras,” said Nate (Wiffle) French, CVMA 41-1 Secretary/Webmaster. “We are about Veterans Helping Veterans.”

 

The event will include drinks specials such as $3 Miller Lite, Miller Fortune cans and Miller Lite draft. Sin City Smokers and the Nevada Barbecue Association will be providing food to donating attendees.  Biker games and a bikini bike wash rounds out the fun.

Gold Mine Tavern, located on historic Water Street, is putting a twist on its usual Wednesday Ladies’ Night on July 10 to help Project 150, a Southern Nevada nonprofit organization dedicated to helping thousands of local homeless teens. Project 150 will receive proceeds from a charity raffle that includes a date with “Shadi (pronounced SHAH-dee) the Hottie.” Shadi (image attached) is a bartender who works Ladies’ Night each week at Gold Mine Tavern and has become a crowd favorite. Other prizes include gift baskets, bar tabs, t-shirts and hats. Project 150 will have a table at the event to provide education to attendees about its mission and collect additional donations.
 
Skinnygirl, an event sponsor, will be providing free cocktails to ladies from 8-10 p.m. Local group Hashtag will be providing entertainment and the famous Gold Mine Tavern “Taco Man” will be selling authentic street tacos and other Mexican specialties. The Gold Mine Tavern welcomes guests aged 21+. Skinnygirl and Gold Mine Tavern encourage everyone to have fun while drinking responsibly.

Gold Mine Tavern, located on historic Water Street, will play host to the first Hendertucky Music Festival, which is expected to be Henderson’s largest festival of its kind. Hendertucky Music Festival will feature local bands, local artists, food, drinks and vendors. Ten bands will rotate onto the stage for 12 hours, rain or shine. The free event is for people aged 21+.

Hendertucky Music Festival, expected to draw a crowd of thousands, demonstrates Gold Mine Tavern’s support of local artists. Founded in 1965, Gold Mine Tavern has featured live music since its beginning, and has consistently hosted local acts every weekend for the past three years. Gold Mine Tavern has also re-invented itself while keeping a comfortable neighborhood feel. Using a grant from the City of Henderson, Gold Mine Tavern refreshed its patio and interior within the past year, resulting in increased crowds nightly.

The Aquabats headline day-long Ska Music Festival  

 

Smash Magazine & Miller Lite present ¡Viva Ska Vegas! highlighting some of the biggest bands in ska during an day-long music festival. ¡Viva Ska Vegas! takes over the Henderson Events Plaza (200 S. Water St.) on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from noon until 10:30 p.m. This is an all-ages show.

Tickets are on sale now. General admission tickets are available for $22, with a limited number of VIP tickets available for $42. The Aquabats, this year’s headliner, formed in 1994 in Orange County, Calif. The first all-crime fighting all-surfing rock supergroup in history, The Aquabats seek to destroy boredom and seek justice for all! They have released five full-length studio albums and have toured internationally. Aquabats albums have even made it onto the Billboard 200, a great feat for independent artists.

West Coast ska punk band, Voodoo Glow Skulls, formed in 1988 in Riverside, Calif. Formed by brothers Frank, Eddie and Jorge Casillas, the band’s drummer, Jerry O’Neill, and Brodie Johnson on trombone, the Voodoo Glow Skulls have sold 1 million albums worldwide spanning their twenty-four year career. The Voodoo Glow Skulls are currently working on their ninth studio album.    

MU330 (pronounced “em-you-three-thirty,” or “muso” as in musically aware) is a ska band formed in 1988 in St. Louis, Mo. The five members: Dan Potthast, Ted Moll, Robert Bell, Gerry Lundquist, and Chris Diebolt all met in high school music class.

La Banda Skalavera is a West Coast Latin/reggae/ska band who notably won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Breakout Los Angeles Artist during the 2009 awards ceremony 

Monkey is an energetic organ-driven band out of San Francisco, Calif. “The hardest working Ska band” plays more than 200 shows a year and has won the prestigious California Music Award.

My Superhero, part of the late ’90s Orange County ska scene, released several albums and toured the U.S. many times, including touring with the Warped Tour in 1999 and 2000.

GoGo13 formed in St. George, Utah in 1993. After a brief split, the band reunited in Los Angeles in 2002 and has played sold out shows throughout the LA/OC music scene.
