Grills & Guitars, Life is Beautiful’s kick-off  party, ushers in another year of festival fun at Gold Spike on Thursday, October 23rd from 7 to 10 p.m. This inventive culinary occasion provides attendees with prolific chef interactions, inspired gourmet comfort food and live music performances. A twist on the traditional backyard barbeque, Grills & Guitars also offers guests an experience of craft beers, lively wines and innovative cocktails with flame-kissed fare that is sure to satisfy all of the senses.

 

Distinctly different than your average food event, Grills & Guitars welcomes guests to feel as though they have been personally invited to the block party of their dreams. On Friday, October 25, Life is Beautiful Festival hosted its official kick-off party, Grills & Guitars.  The party featured a culinary feast prepared by 16 celebrity chefs, including Bruce Bromberg, Aarón Sánchez, Scott Conant, Cat Cora, Rick Moonen, Kim Canteenwalla, Susan Feniger, Mary Sue Milliken, David Myers, Jet Tila, Clayton Arakawa with musical performances by Dawes and Todd Rundgren.

The first day of the festival, Saturday, October 26, 2013, attracted tens of thousands of people to Downtown Las Vegas to explore the 15-block music, food, art and learning event consisting of five music stages, a culinary village, an alchemy garden, an eclectic street art program curated by Charlotte Dutoit, a learning program with a range of notable speakers, and much more.

Highlights of the festival so far include:

  • Kanye West toured the footprint of the festival with co-founder Rehan Choudhry & Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh on the eve of the openin
  • At Grills & Guitars, Nancy Silverton presented Jonathan Waxman with the Lifetime Achievement Award surrounded by Aarón Sánchez, Bruce Bromberg, Michael Symon and the festival’s co-founder, Rehan Choudhry

The New York-based LUCKYRICE Festival returned to The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas this past weekend (Oct. 4-6) with a lively and extensive culinary celebration. The three-day festival allowed attendees to revel in the invigorating flavors of various Asian countries. Celebrity guest chefs from across the globe introduced their specialty dishes and interacted with guests at different events throughout the weekend.

The LUCKYRICE Vegas Night Market (Saturday, Oct. 5) transformed Boulevard Pool into an outdoor feast for the second year in a row, inspired by the festive night markets of Asia. Featuring traditional Asian street food and modern variations alike, the event allowed festival-goers to enjoy delicious bites from more than 20 guest chefs including Kristen Kish (Menton, Boston), Brooke Williamson (Hudson House and The Tripel, California), Jet Tila (Kuma Snow Cream, Las Vegas) and Pichet Ong (New York City). Chefs from The Cosmopolitan’s own famed eateries, such as China Poblano, STK, Wicked Spoon, Comme Ça and Holsteins, contributed dishes to the event as well. Resort mixologists Christopher Hopkins and Mariena Mercer were also on hand, creating specialty Bombay Sapphire EAST cocktails with an Asian flare.

Additionally, an Opening Ceremony kicked off the weekend on Friday, Oct. 4 at Boulevard Pool.  Guests enjoyed authentic Chinese entertainment and released floating lotus flowers into the water at the sound of a drum, a wish signifying prosperity. The festival concluded with a Dim Sum, Bloody Mary & Mahjong Brunch (Sunday, Oct.6) at Bamboo Pool hosted by celebrity chef Susur Lee (Top Chef Masters/Lee, Toronto).

Festival announces the lineup of culinary programming and experiences for the inaugural festival taking place Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th, 2013, with a kickoff event the evening of Friday, October 25th.  With more than 60 chefs and restaurants, 24 wineries and 24 breweries participating in the culinary part of the festival alone, L.I.B. presents its attendees with a full-scale food festival experience and expects to draw tens of thousands of people to Downtown Las Vegas. The culinary programming includes experiences that are included in the price of a general-admission festival ticket, such as The Culinary Village, The Alchemy Garden & Chefs on Stage, as well as unique ticketed events that do not require a festival ticket like the Grills & Guitars kick-off party hosted by Blue Ribbon Restaurants and the Take a Stand charity soiree; an eight-course dinner hosted by Elizabeth Blau & Hubert Keller benefitting Three Square Food Bank and Communities in Schools.

The creative direction of the food festival portion of Life is Beautiful Festival was shaped by a culinary advisory board of 12 top chefs chaired by Bruce Bromberg of Blue Ribbon Restaurants.  The food festival will be anchored by The Culinary Village a Moroccan-style bazaar featuring stations manned by more than 60 well-known chefs. Within The Village, guests can enjoy an entertaining and informative series of chef demonstrations (Chefs on Stage), culinary affairs, intimate meals and a beer, wine and spirits garden (The Alchemy Garden). All experiences within the food and wine program will allow attendees the opportunity to engage with these talented chefs up-close and gain insight into their creative process in the kitchen and beyond.

Life is Beautiful Festival Announces Official Lineup

Headliners for the Two Day Festival of World Class Music, Food, Art & Learning in
Downtown Las Vegas include: The Killers, Kings of Leon and
Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil
Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th, 2013

 

Life is Beautiful (L.I.B.) Festival announces the lineup for the inaugural festival taking place Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th, 2013. With more than 50 musical acts, 60 chefs and restaurants, special performances by Cirque du Soleil and other theatrical productions, world renowned artists and over 25 noted speakers, L.I.B expects to attract tens of thousands of people to Downtown Las Vegas.

“Inspired by our community and a collective desire to positively impact our city, Life is Beautiful Festival is designed to showcase the very best in music, food, art and learning,” stated Rehan Choudhry, CEO of Aurelian Marketing Group the promoter of the festival. “It is an honor to able to bring this unprecedented talent lineup into 15 city blocks of historic Downtown Las Vegas, creating a truly one-of-a-kind festival experience.”

 
Music is Beautiful

Over the course of the two days, the festival will feature an eclectic lineup of over 50 internationally established and emerging bands on four stages and several indoor venues. The lineup features:

Food is Beautiful

Life is Beautiful Festival’s culinary advisory board of 12 top chefs helped shape the creative direction of the full-scale food festival portion of L.I.B. The food festival will feature demonstrations, culinary affairs, intimate meals, a beer, wine and spirits garden and a large-scale Moroccan-style bazaar with stations manned by more than 60 chefs, mixologists and wine-makers. The design of the food and wine program will allow attendees the opportunity to engage these talented chefs up close and gain insight into their creative process in the kitchen and beyond. Art is Beautiful

Art is Beautiful is an urban-inspired art festival for a whole new generation of entertainment enthusiasts. By eliminating the velvet ropes, Art is Beautiful will allow festival goers to actively engage with critically-acclaimed artists from around the globe and from within Downtown Las Vegas’ progressive art scene. Programming will include street art, installations, murals and performance art. In addition, the festival will feature theatrical performances presented by a wide range of theater groups. At this year’s festival, Cirque du Soleil, will present an act from the highly anticipated and brand new immersive musical experience, Michael Jackson ONE, on the main festival stage, and, in addition there will be six unique performances from other resident Cirque du Soleil productions of Las Vegas.

Learning is Beautiful
Learning is Beautiful, the festival’s speaker series, aims to inspire festival goers to expand their perspective on what is possible when you simply choose to “do what you love.” Critically acclaimed and diverse speakers will share their road to success while highlighting the obstacles and pitfalls they experienced along the way. Over two days, more than 25 speakers will be showcased in keynote and quick-format speeches, panel discussions and workshops.

Chefs to Help Create Festival’s Culinary Program

In an effort to develop a truly unique and inspiring festival, Life is Beautiful Festival (L.I.B) has named ten innovative chefs to a Culinary Advisory Board to provide creative direction and programming for the culinary portion of the two day music, food and arts festival planned for Downtown Las Vegas this fall.

“It’s an incredible honor to be associated with this highly respected and innovative group of chefs. Together, we will be creating a culinary program for Life is Beautiful that completely reinvents the way people experience food, wine, beer and spirits in a festival environment,” stated Rehan Choudhry, CEO of Aurelian Marketing Group that is co-producing L.I.B..

The culinary area of the Life is Beautiful Festival tentatively plans to feature up to 80 chefs in a Moroccan inspired bazaar of food and merchandise stalls as well as various demonstrations and competitions and a garden for wine, beer and spirits. The Festival also plans to offer exclusive dining experiences prepared by a top chef or a collaboration of chefs, winemakers and mixologists.

Life is Beautiful Festival plans to attract tens of thousands of people per day to Downtown Las Vegas for the first annual festival.
