Each year, the Monorail is the only motorized form of transportation available along the
Las Vegas Strip for the New Year’s Eve holiday.

 

The Las Vegas Monorail will be the only motorized method of transportation operating along the Las Vegas Strip for New Year’s Eve. It will operate continuously from 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 through the entire New Year’s Day (Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020) and until 2 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, for a total of 43 straight hours. Customers who purchase their two-day or longer passes online at www.lvmonorail.com before Friday, Dec. 20 receive a 20 percent discount with code NYE2020.

Regularly priced tickets are $5 for a single ride and unlimited-ride passes are available for 24 hours, two days, three days and more beginning at $13. Regular tickets and multi-ride tickets may also be purchased at customer-service booths or online in advance at www.lvmonorail.com. Electronically purchased tickets may be directly downloaded to riders’ mobile devices for added convenience. Last year, more than 300,000 people gathered along the Las Vegas Strip, which shuts down to automobile traffic from approximately 5:45 p.m. New Year’s Eve night until 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Once again, the Las Vegas Monorail will be the only Strip transportation option available during the 2019 Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & ½ Marathon. The Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & ½ Marathon event gives participants a one-of-a-kind nighttime running experience as the only private event to close Las Vegas Boulevard at night. The largest event on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series tour will take place on the Las Vegas Strip at night on Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 16 – 17, 2019.

Year after year, thousands of runners and spectators attend the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & ½ Marathon and its four days of events, relying upon the Monorail for getting to and from the start and finish lines of the weekend’s races. Each year, the Monorail is the only motorized form of transportation available along the Las Vegas Strip for the New Year’s Eve holiday. 

 

The Las Vegas Monorail will remain open and running around the clock from 7 a.m. New Year’s Eve, continuously through New Year’s Day and until 2 a.m. on January 2, 2018, for a total of 43 straight hours. Last year, more than 300,000 people gathered along the Las Vegas Strip, which shuts down to automobile traffic from approximately 5:45 p.m. New Year’s Eve night until 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day. With streets closed off, the Monorail is the only motorized form of transportation available along the Strip on New Year’s Eve.

The Monorail offers several incentives this New Year’s Eve for revelers seeking to use the system to traverse the Strip: 

  • Anyone who purchases an unlimited-ride pass on the Monorail can receive $5 in Lyft credit, enabling them to extend their journey beyond the 3.9-mile route. This offer is perfect for visitors who want to enjoy the Strip on New Year’s Eve, but are staying in Downtown Las Vegas of anywhere else off-Strip. Unlimited-ride passes may be purchased  here.
  • Monorail riders who do not plan to use Lyft and who wish to purchase any unlimited-ride pass can use this link to receive 10 percent off.

WHAT:
Following the success of its inaugural event earlier this year, music-goers and fans of the popular “silent disco” events are invited to experience “Sound Check 2,” a silent rave inside a Las Vegas Monorail train. The versatile and convenient Las Vegas Strip transportation company has teamed up with nightlife enthusiasts YAYFRIENDS! to offer an on-train private disco dance party where attendees wear headphones that tune into the DJ’s spinning tracks. Two stages will be set up in the train, with two DJs playing simultaneously. An “End of the Line” after-party on platform 2 of the SLS Las Vegas Monorail Station will follow the event. Sound Check 2 aboard the Monorail is an all-ages party; the after-party is for ages 21 and over only.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the National Association of the Deaf. Sound Check was developed to provide the ability for the hearing impaired to restore music in their lives while enriching the local music community. More than 200 participants are expected to join the event.

Once again, the Las Vegas Monorail will be the only Strip transportation option available during the GEICO Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & ½ Marathon, which will close Las Vegas Boulevard South when it takes place Sunday, Nov. 12.

Year after year, thousands of runners and spectators attending the Marathon and its four days of events rely upon the Monorail for getting to and from the start and finish lines of the weekend’s races. The Monorail also has a station at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is the site of the Marathon’s three-day Health & Fitness Expo, Nov. 9 – 11. As the most efficient and cost-effective way to navigate the Strip during the Marathon, the Monorail offers discounts up to 25 percent for multi-day passes purchased prior to Nov. 6, making it even easier to ride.

Las Vegas Monorail to Stay Open 43 Hours to Bring in the New Year with $1 Fare for Locals

 The Las Vegas Monorail will remain open and running around the clock from 7 a.m. New Year’s Eve, continuously through New Year’s Day and until 2 a.m. on January 2, 2017, for a total of 43 straight hours. Last year, more than 300,000 people gathered along the Las Vegas Strip, which shuts down to automobile traffic from approximately 5:45 p.m. New Year’s Eve night until 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day. With streets closed off, the Monorail is the only motorized form of transportation available along the Strip on New Year’s Eve.

In addition, locals can purchase $1 one-way local tickets on New Year’s Eve from any Monorail ticket office, which will stay open until 11 p.m. that night. Locals must present a Nevada ID to receive the discount.

 Once again, the Las Vegas Monorail will be the only Strip transportation option available during the GEICO Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & ½ Marathon, which will close Las Vegas Boulevard South when it takes place Sunday, Nov. 13. Year after year, thousands of runners and spectators attending the Marathon and its four days of events rely upon the Monorail for getting to and from the start and finish lines of the weekend’s races. The Monorail also has a station at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is the site of the Marathon’s three-day Health & Fitness Expo, Nov. 10 – 12. As the most efficient and cost-effective way to navigate the Strip during the Marathon, the Monorail offers discounts up to 25 percent for multi-day passes purchased prior to Nov. 4, making it even easier to ride.
