ABOUT KARL DENSON: For nearly three decades, legendary saxophonist Karl Denson has been getting crowds around the world out on the dance floor. Approaching iconic status, Denson has moved bodies and minds dating back to his earliest years with Lenny Kravitz’s band through his ongoing tenure as a founding member of seminal boogaloo revivalists The Greyboy Allstars and his current roll as a member of San Diego dub rockers Slightly Stoopid. Nowhere, however, is this more apparent than with his band, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. Touring relentlessly for the past 15 years and leaving a massive audience in his wake, fans know that when KDTU is in town a dance party will ensue.
Karl and his band are back on the road for a multi-city tour in support of their latest studio album, New Ammo, an infectious 13-track collection, and Denson’s debut release on Slightly Stoopid’s record label, Stoopid Records. Alongside Denson originals like the title track and “Everybody Knows That,” which have become fan favorites from his live sets, KDTU offers up searing versions of “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, “Hang Me Up To Dry” by Cold War Kids and “Sure Shot” by The Beastie Boys. The first single “My Baby,” features Nicki Bluhm on vocals.
In Denson’s own words: “We’ve finally figured out how to capture in the studio what the Tiny Universe does live. We move around a lot musically, but this record reflects who we are as a band and where we’re headed with our music.”
ABOUT BROOKLYN BOWL:
Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas is the brand’s third location. With three levels spanning over 80,000 square feet, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas is one of the largest performance venues in America and is described by People Magazine as being “on the fast path to being Vegas’über cool place.” Located inside The LINQ, the open-air district in the center of the Las Vegas Strip, the multi-dimensional space boasts 32 lanes of bowling, five on-site bars and rockin’ comfort food by the world-renowned Bromberg Brothers’ Blue Ribbon Restaurants, including their iconic Fried Chicken celebrated on Food Network’s “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.” On any given night, more than 2,000 concertgoers can enjoy live music programming from the general admission area, the luxurious bowlers’ lounges adjacent to the lanes, or the private lounge boxes overlooking it all. Since opening in March 2014, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas has seen notable performances by Elvis Costello & The Roots, Jane’s Addiction, Phil Lesh & Friends, Primus, O.A.R. and Steve Winwood.
The original location opened in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn in 2009 in the former Hecla Iron Works building (built in 1882) and was the first L.E.E.D. certified bowling alley in the world. Brooklyn Bowl New York has hosted countless notable performances, including shows by Kanye West, Adele, Paul Simon, Moby and Guns N’Roses and has been named Zagat’s “Best Music Venue – New York City” for three consecutive years (as well as “Best Bowling Alley” and “Best Brooklyn Venue”) and one of the best clubs in America by Rolling Stone. Eater described their menu as “epic,” while The New Yorker hailed the club’s unprecedented combination of top-flight music, beer, bowling, and food as “like nailing a spare on a four-ten split.” The second Brooklyn Bowl location opened in January 2014 at the O2 in London, and was hailed by the London Evening Standard as a “…wonderland of food, drink, music and pins”.
The legendary Laugh Factory Las Vegas at the New Tropicana Las Vegas is proud to introduce this week’s impressive comedy lineup. Ian Edwards, Dean Delray and Zach Risen take the stage May 14-20.
Resident Laugh Factory Hollywood star Ian Edwards hits the stage at the new Laugh Factory Las Vegas as this week’s headliner. He has appeared on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and HBO’s “P. Diddy Presents the Bad Boys of Comedy.” Edwards’ sidesplitting brand of comedy brought him from a job working the Burger King drive-thru to writing for comedy successes such as “Saturday Night Live” and “Boondocks.”
With more than 15 years in the comedy industry under his belt, Edwards cannot help but make people laugh, whether on stage or on screen. He was a cast member on the fifth season of “Punk’d” on MTV, where he helped Ashton Kutcher play elaborate pranks on unsuspecting celebrities including George Lopez, Raven Simone and Thora Birch. Edwards has also just finished writing for the revival of “In Living Color.” Born in England and raised in Jamaica and New York, Edwards now resides in California.
Dean Delray is an enigmatic funnyman who brings the party to the stage and pulls no punches with every rock-star performance. His comedy, drawing on his own “sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll” lifestyle, leaves audiences with lighters in the air, begging for an encore. Delray has appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s “Hell Ride,” “The Longshots,” and “Noise Matters.” Before launching his comedy career, Delray was signed by 4 Non Blondes’ Linda Perry, toured internationally with The Wallflowers, and opened for Tom Petty, Lenny Kravitz, The Black Crowes and many more. When he is not on the stage, he can be found riding his motorcycle.
Las Vegas’ very own Zach Risen hosts this week’s comedy lineup. Whether joking about his “boyish” looks or getting bullied by girls, this up-and-coming 24-year-old comedian leaves audiences in a frenzy of laughter. Risen was a college freshman when he made his comedy debut at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas event center. The event coordinators had seven minutes of dead time and his fraternity brothers threw him on stage telling him to “be funny.” The crowd loved him and he has not stopped since. Risen has shared the stage with veteran comedians including Brad Garret and Ron White and has performed up and down the Strip.
The Laugh Factory Las Vegas features different marquee acts each week, hosting the hottest comedians in the business, from established stand-up superstars to the young rising stars of tomorrow. Shows are performed daily at 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $29 (plus applicable taxes) or $44.95 (plus applicable taxes) for VIP tickets. Special two-for-one tickets are also available for locals and Tropicana Las Vegas hotel guests for both 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. shows.

Presented by Bill Edwards Presents
Keep Memory Alive’s 16th annual Power of Love Gala on Saturday, Feb. 18, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas brought out some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment to celebrate Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday and raise funds for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center.

Jackson, Terrence Howard and David Beckham gave personal remarks and remembrances about “The Greatest” while Lenny Kravitz, Cee Lo Green and Kelly Rowland performed for Ali and the sold-out crowd of about 2,000.
The once-in-a-lifetime birthday celebration, “Ali 70th From Las Vegas,” will air nationally on ESPN2 on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 10 p.m. local time in all markets. ABC will air the celebration in Las Vegas at 4 p.m. PT that day as well. For possible ABC broadcast in all other markets, viewers should check their local listings.

Jackson, David Beckham, Larry King, Quincy Jones, Ken Jeong, Buzz Aldrin, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, Common, Lenny Kravitz, Sean Combs, Anthony Hopkins, John Legend, Chris Cornell, Cee Lo Green, Joe Perry, Slash, Terrence Howard, Kris Kristofferson, David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, Andre Agassi, Stefanie Graf, Jim Brown, Randy Couture, Brad Garrett, Kelly Rowland, Dave Koz, Robin Leach, James Gandolfini, Steve Schirripa, John Paul DeJoria, Tony Danza, Raphael Saadiq, Haley Reinhart, and Sammy Hagar. In keeping with its 16-year history, the Power of Love Gala showcased a celebrity-chef-packed dinner featuring creations by Tom Colicchio, Scott Conant, Michael Mina and Wolfgang Puck. Guests were treated to a Dom Perignon reception and were able to bid on one-of-a-kind live and silent auction items, including Muhammad Ali’s boxing gloves he wore to defeat Floyd Patterson in Las Vegas in 1965 and an extravagant vacation of a lifetime for two couples on David Copperfield’s private island in the Bahamas.
The gala’s celebration for Ali aligns with the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health’s recent launch of a landmark study examining the long-term brain health of professional fighters. Aiming to improve the safety and health of fighters, the study will help determine whether magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain, along with other tests, can detect subtle changes in brain health that correlate with impaired thinking and functioning. Researchers hope the information uncovered by this research will eventually result in better ways to prevent permanent brain injury in not only fighters, but also in others who may suffer from brain trauma.
The Power of Love Gala was produced by Bill Edwards Presents Inc. and supported by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Muhammad Ali Enterprises and Keep Memory Alive, the fundraising arm of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. The star-studded celebration for Ali honored the boxing legend’s contribution to the world and raised awareness for Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
