WEEKEND

National Invitational Tournament will be held
Saturday-Sunday, March 16-17

The UNLV men’s golf team will travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the Don Puckette National Invitational Tournament, which will be played at Omni Tucson National Golf Club (par 72, 7,094 yards) on Saturday-Sunday, March 16-17.

The 16-school, 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes played on Saturday and a final round of 18 holes taking place on Sunday. This year’s field is made up of Arizona, Arkansas, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Nevada, Reno, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oklahoma State, San Diego, San Diego State, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, UNLV, UTEP and Wyoming. Play will begin at 8 a.m. MT each day.

The Rebels’ lineup includes senior Kevin Penner, junior Blake Biddle, freshman AJ McInerney, and sophomores Kurt Kitayama and Carl Jonson.

UNLV finished second (out of 12 teams) at last year’s NIT at 4-under 860, one shot back of team champion San Diego State. Penner turned in the Rebels’ best individual performance at 2-under, which tied for third place, 13 shots behind individual medalist J.J. Spaun from San Diego State.

In its last tournament, UNLV finished ninth at its own Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters, which had a 15-team field including nine of the nation’s top-10 ranked teams. In seven events this season, UNLV has finished in the top four on four occasions.

UNLV WOMEN’S BASKETBALL NEWS: Lady Rebels Host Nevada, Reno On Senior Day

UNLV

SENIOR DAY FOR UNLV WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ON SATURDAY AGAINST NEVADA, RENO

Lady Rebels looking for the season sweep and the three points in the Governor’s Series, all tickets just $2

There is no shortage of storylines for UNLV’s women’s basketball game against in-state rival Nevada, Reno, which tips off at 3 pm on Saturday. And it all begins with guard Kelli Thompson, who will play in the Cox Pavilion for the final time as the Lady Rebels will recognize their lone senior prior to the start of final home game of the regular season. Tickets are just $2 for any fans wearing red to the contest, while kids 12 and under are always free at UNLV women’s basketball game. A senior celebration will also follow the contest, starting 30 minutes after the game is over.

Saturday’s game is key in both the Mountain West and Governor’s Series standings. The Lady Rebels are looking to claim their seventh league win of the year, which would keep them in the top half of the MW. A win over UNR would also give the Lady Rebels the season sweep, and earn three points for UNLV in the all-sports competition between the two.

The contest will be streamed live on UNLVRebels.com, thanks to a partnership with UNLV-TV, a media unit of the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism & Media Studies. The UNLV radio broadcast for the game by Adam Candee and Dominique Harris can be heard on KSHP 1400 AM as well as off a link from UNLVRebels.com.
