UNLV MEN’S GOLF TO CONCLUDE FALL SEASON IN GEORGIA
Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate set for Friday-Sunday, Oct. 20-22
The UNLV men’s golf team will conclude its fall season this weekend at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, which will be played at The Golf Club of Georgia’s Lakeside Course (par 72, 7,017 yards) in Alpharetta, Ga., Friday-Sunday, Oct. 20-22.
THE FIELD: The 15-team field has five of the nation’s top-10 teams, eight of the top 25 and 13 of the top 50 (Golfweek/Sagarin rankings): Clemson, Duke, East Tennessee State, Florida State, Georgia Tech (host), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, UCLA, UNLV, Virginia and Wake Forest.
THE FORMAT: The 54-hole stroke-play tournament will consist of 18 holes each day.
TEE TIMES: Pairings for Friday and Saturday will be set in advance and begin at 9 a.m. ET off both No. 1 and No. 10 holes. Sunday’s final-round pairings will be set by 36-hole scores.
THE LINEUP: Competing for UNLV will be senior Shintaro Ban, junior Harry Hall, freshman Jack Trent, sophomore Justin Kim and freshman J.J. Gresco.
LAST YEAR: UNLV did not compete at the event last year. Virginia and Texas both tied for team title in 2016 at 8-under 856, while Virginia’s Jimmy Stanger and Oklahoma’s Max McGreevy tied for medalist honors at 9-under 207.
NAME CHANGE: The event was previously known as the United States Collegiate Championship until last fall, when it was changed to the present title.
THIS YEAR: This will be UNLV’s fifth and final tournament of the fall. The Rebels have turned in two fourth-place finishes this season. Ban is coming off his second career individual title as he tied for first at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Alabama on Oct. 10.
