Las Vegas Sands to Build 200,000 Hygiene Kits with Clean the World

On Sept. 26, 4,000+ volunteers and team members in Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, Singapore and Macao will work around the clock and across the globe to aim for a Guinness World Record while getting much-needed hygiene supplies to people in need

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) and international nonprofit Clean the World invite the Las Vegas community to join The Venetian and The Palazzo Team Members on Sept. 26, 2015 in an unprecedented 24-hour global volunteer effort to build 200,000 hygiene kits that will improve the health and well being of vulnerable populations worldwide.

The “Las Vegas Sands Global Hygiene Build with Clean the World” will be both organizations’ largest – and most ambitious -volunteer effort to date. The build will be held at LVS’ Macao, Singapore, Bethlehem and Las Vegas properties sequentially and all within a 24-hour period. The effort is part of LVS’s global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares, and its ongoing partnership with Clean the World.

“For the first time ever, Las Vegas Sands properties are joining in a single and united Sands Cares event to help communities across the globe,” said Ron Reese, senior vice president of corporate communications at LVS. “This global kit build with Clean the World will help thousands of impoverished and homeless people who can’t afford or lack access to simple basics like soap or shampoo – including those in need in our local communities. These kits help prevent disease and promote good health and dignity.”

Interested community volunteers can sign up at http://vegasctw2015.eventbrite.com/for two-hour shifts to assemble kits. Volunteers can sign up for shifts during the following times:
12-2 p.m.
2-4 p.m.
4-6 p.m.

Approximately 4,000 LVS Team Members and volunteers in Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, Singapore and Macao will help build 200,000 kits during the global build, which is underwritten by LVS and also receiving support from Sysco.

Each hygiene kit includes soap that was collected from Clean the World’s hospitality partners, including LVS properties around the world, and then recycled through Clean the World’s soap sanitation and processing equipment. Other amenities in the kit include shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

LVS and Clean the World have a strong partnership built upon a collective commitment to help those in need and protect the planet. Since 2011, LVS and Clean the World have recycled more than 50 tons of waste from LVS properties into more than 550,000 bars of soap.

“Clean the World’s partnership with Las Vegas Sands has enabled us to drive the global hygiene revolution, and this global build will further accelerate our mission to reach thousands of people in the U.S. and Asia with hygiene supplies,” said Shawn Seipler, founder and executive director of Clean the World.

LVS’ partnership with Clean the World is part of the company’s global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares. Announced in April 2014, Sands Cares manifests the company’s core corporate social responsibility focus: supporting people in the company and the hospitality industry, making local communities where LVS operates a better place to live and reducing environmental impact on the planet. Sands Cares provides a cohesive approach to corporate and property-level giving and support in local communities where LVS operates to address the most pressing issues in its local communities and help make them better places to live. LIMELIGHT Brings the Wild Side of the Roaring 20s to The Plaza with a Limited Engagement

Tickets on Sale Now

LIMELIGHT brings the world of black and white silent films to vivid technicolor life through the art of contemporary burlesque. Tickets are on sale now for a limited engagement at The Plaza Hotel & Casino downtown from Sept. 12 through Nov. 1 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 10 p.m. Named after one of Charlie Chaplin’s most famous films, LIMELIGHT’s mix of singing, dancing, comedy and magic rekindles the feel and energy of the roaring 20s with a seductive edge.

Producers Jodie McDonald and Danial Brown have joined forces to form their production company Ridicula Imitatio and create LIMELIGHT, as well as choreograph, design costumes for and appear in the show. Brown, who has performed on Broadway and danced with Michael Jackson, steps into the shoes (and bowler hat) of the legendary Charlie Chaplin while McDonald, a former Los Angeles Laker Girl and worldwide choreographer, dances in the vibrant burlesque numbers. Betty Boop is portrayed by Felice Singer, who currently stars in Million Dollar Quartet and has performed in Les Folies Bergere and Fantasy. Rounding out the talented cast are dancers Priscilla Trammel, Carlynn Mazon, Amy Toliver, Kaitlin Morgan and Taylor Huggins.

“LIMELIGHT is a tribute to the artists, like Chaplin, who pioneered the arts of facial expression, body language and movement in telling a story, ” said Brown. “The performers literally jump off the screen and onto the stage in a magical marriage of the old and new that’s sexy, smart, elegant and edgy all at once.”

High Kicks and High Spirits Delight Audiences at the GRAND OLE VEGAS REVUE

Las Vegas audiences of all ages will stand up and cheer when the GRAND OLE VEGAS REVUE opens at the Plaza Hotel and Casino on November 3rd, 2012. Created by long-time “Phantom” performers Jonathan and Marisa Gorst, this gem of a show features the talent of seasoned Broadway and Las Vegas Strip performers in a quick-paced parade of song, dance, and comedy. Drawing inspiration from the vaudeville theater of the early 1900s, the GRAND OLE VEGAS REVUE delights in gags and chuckles liberally peppered throughout a sequence of top-quality performances. It’s a blend that, as Anthony Del Valle of the Las Vegas Review-Journal declared, is “bound to please.”

A belief in the merit of universally appealing entertainment drove the show’s creators to write, produce, and direct their way onto the stage in the Showroom at the Plaza. Jonathan Gorst has made his name as the Music Director of the National Tours of both “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats”, and most recently served as the Assistant Conductor in Las Vegas’s own production of “Phantom” at the Venetian. But his roots go back to Cripple Creek, CO, where he played the piano for a little show much like the one he’s produced. “There’s something truly magical about the simplicity of this show,” he says. “We’ve got one piano, a handful of actors, and a whole lot of heart and soul. There’s nothing to stand between the actors and the audience. The result is an enchanting intimacy that’s also comfortable because nothing is taken too seriously. These performers have stood on big stages across the world, but they’re not afraid of good old-fashioned pratfalls and whoopee cushions. It’s amazing how funny things get, even in rehearsals, because every piece of every act is so sincerely joyful.”

Mr. Gorst’s co-producer and wife, Marisa Paull Gorst, brings her own pedigree to the show, with a background in classical dance that saw her onstage at Lincoln Center with New York City Ballet and in Ljubljana, Slovenia with that country’s National Opera Ballet. Her most recent years were spent as part of the ballet chorus in “Phantom” at the Venetian, which brought her to Las Vegas. Joining her onstage are performers who’ve been seen in the national tours of “The Phantom of the Opera”, “Cats,” and “Singin’ In The Rain,” as well as Las Vegas Strip shows “Phantom”, “Spamalot”, “Jubilee!”, “Legends”, “Tony & Tina’s Wedding,” “Tournament Of Kings”, “Bareback”, “Best Little Whorehouse of Texas”, and many others.

With such a cast and the musically gifted Mr. Gorst on the piano, it’s no wonder that when the show previewed at Bonnie Springs Ranch this past summer the reviews were spectacular. Here’s a taste of what critics had to say:

“Surprisingly well-performed . . . a professional-level, well-sung, well-acted welcomed evening of vaudeville nonsense.” – Las Vegas Review-Journal

“Uproariously fresh and funny” – Vegas Only Entertainment

“I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard during a show before!” – Vegas Kool

“The best part: listening to the screams of the children who kept telling each other, “I liked that part the best. No, I liked it all the best.”” – Las Vegas Review-Journal

Vegas24seven.com had a excellent time at the show!!  It  keep laughing all night long! We highly recommend GRAND OLE VEGAS REVUE  to all our readers young and old!!

The GRAND OLE VEGAS REVUE opens Novemeber 3rd, 2012, at 5pm in the Showroom at the Plaza Hotel and Casino, 1 South Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
