‘George Jones: The Grand Tour Celebrating His Ultimate No Show’ Coming Soon!

George Jones, the definitive country singer of the last half-century, was a member of The Country Music Hall of Fame and The Grand Ole Opry, received the coveted Kennedy Center Honor and was the recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. Now on Sunday, June 9, Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Harry Connick, Jr., Joe Diffie, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Emmylou Harris, Alan Jackson, Sammy Kershaw, Uncle Kracker, Kris Kristofferson, Shelby Lynne, Martina McBride, Lorrie Morgan, Aaron Neville, Connie Smith, Trick Pony, Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker and Wynonna will celebrate George’s 50 Years Of Hits in an all-star celebration airing on AXS TV at 9pm ET and 12am ET.

Jones’ career never left the top of the country charts having recorded more than 100 albums during his career and more than 150 of those songs were hits, including 60 Top 10 singles. His songs including “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” “Tennessee Whiskey,” Still Doin’ Time,” “A Good Year For The Roses,” “She Thinks I Still Care,” and so many others are covers every bar band performs on a nightly basis.

Jones was often referred to as The Possum, for his facial features and the shape of his nose, or No Show Jones, for his sudden disappearing act before a show. However, when Jones finally did take the stage he was a hardcore honky tonker that sang songs about heartbreak and hard drinking times that echoed his own turbulent life. By most accounts, George Jones was the finest vocalist in the recorded history of country music.

UNDER THE SUN AND AUSTRALIAN PINK FLOYD ADDED TO
MANDALAY BAY BEACH CONCERT SERIES

Tickets Now on Sale

Under The Sun – Saturday, July 18
Under The Sun, the hugely popular summer tour celebrating the golden age of alternative pop rock ‘n’ roll, returns to the Mandalay Bay Beach Saturday, July 18. The 2015 tour will feature top bands of the‘90s and today including, Sugar Ray, Better Than Ezra, Uncle Kracker and Eve 6.

Mark McGrath, best known as lead singer and songwriter for Sugar Ray, boasts multiple Top 10 hits including “Someday,” “When It’s Over” and the twin No. 1 classics “Fly” and “Every Morning.” McGrath and Sugar Ray became worldwide fan favorites with several multi-platinum albums, countless sold out tours, innumerable TV appearances and covers of such national publications as Spin and Rolling Stone. More than two decades since its foundation, Sugar Ray remains devoted to the cause that united them – the pursuit of good times, sunshine and great rock ‘n’ roll.

Better Than Ezra is a New Orleans-based band that came together in 1988 at Louisiana State University, first unveiling its debut album, Deluxe, independently in 1993 and then again via Elektra Records in 1995. Fueled by singles like “In The Blood” and the blockbuster “Good,” which reached the Top 40 on Billboard’s “Hot 100,” Deluxe achieved RIAA double platinum certification and undeniable status as a classic of the alternative era.

Uncle Kracker vaulted to stardom as a charismatic presence and chief collaborator in Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker Band before kicking off a stunning solo career of his own with 2000’s RIAA double platinum debut, Double Wide. From there, the Michigan-based singer, songwriter and performer unfurled a string of Top 10 multi-format hits including 2001’s No. 1 smash “Follow Me,” “In A Little While,” “Smile” and, of course, 2003’s record-setting cover of Dobie Gray’s classic “Drift Away.”

Eve 6 formed in Southern California in 1995, inking a deal with RCA Records before they’d even finished high school. The band’s album debut arrived in 1998 attaining platinum success on the back of hits like the Modern Rock chart-topper “Inside Out.” 2000’s Horrorscope affirmed Eve 6 as alternative stars via a run of radio gems like “Promise,” “On The Roof Again” and the crossover Top 40 anthem “Here’s To The Night.”

Tickets are priced at $34.50, not including applicable service charges.

The Australian Pink Floyd Show featuring Led Zeppelin2 – Friday, Sept. 4
Acclaimed tribute band, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, will take the stage at the Mandalay Bay Beach Friday, Sept. 4 with Led Zeppelin2 joining as special guests. The Australian Pink Floyd Show gave its first concert in Adelaide, Australia in 1988 and has since performed in more than 35 countries worldwide.

Striving to reproduce the Pink Floyd experience and bring new music to new audiences, the live show continues to include a stunning light and laser show, video animations, film projected onto a large circular screen and other special effects. With 27 years of history, the world’s biggest, best and greatest tribute band continues to delight audiences.

Led Zeppelin2, The Live Experience, brings fans the excitement of Led Zeppelin “In Concert” by re-enacting the live improvisation and onstage interaction that earned Led Zeppelin its legendary status for performing. Rather than a “greatest hits” show, fans experience Zeppelin as Zeppelin would have played in front of an audience. The band has earned critical praise along the way.

Tickets are priced at $39.50, not including applicable service charges.

The headliners for the 26th Annual Downtown Hoedown on Wednesday, Dec. 5 include:

Clay Walker
Certain artists just seem to have an innate sense of what it takes to please an audience. Clay Walker is one of those artists. Walker made a name for himself on the competitive Texas honky-tonk circuit before graduating to success on a national level. He first topped the Billboard country singles chart in 1993 with “What’s It to You” and followed with his second consecutive No. 1 hit, “Live Until I Die.” Since then he’s placed 31 titles on Billboard’s singles chart including chart toppers “Dreaming with my Eyes Open,” “If I Could Make Living,” “This Woman and This Man,” and “Rumor Has It.”

Dustin Lynch
Dustin Lynch got his start at the Bluebird Café, the world’s preeminent listening room for singers and songwriters, which has been instrumental in the development of Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and Kathy Mattea among others. Lynch visited the Bluebird several times a week to listen and learn about the mysterious art of creating songs from some of Nashville’s most important writers, and it was at their proverbial feet that he picked up key insights about the writing process. It wasn’t long before Lynch himself landed a performance spot at the famed venue and in 2011 he signed to Broken Bow Records. His self-titled debut album entered the US Billboard Top Country Albums and US Billboard Top Independent Albums charts at number 1. He has garnered two nominations from the American Country Awards for his January 2012 debut single “Cowboys and Angels.” Lynch has also been featured on USA Today as an “On the Verge” artist and on CMT’s “Notable New Music” list. Dedication and passion has made Lynch one of the most promising new artists of country music.

Jana Kramer
Singer, Songwriter and Actress Jana Kramer is best known for her role as the firecracker actress Alex Dupre, in the CW hit series “One Tree Hill.” Although a new comer in the world of country music, Jana is no stranger to the bright lights with her impressive string of movie and television roles, including recurring roles on hit shows such as “Friday Night Lights,” “Entourage” and “Beverly Hills 90210,” but she credits her recent break into the music industry as her most important accomplishment to date. Jana’s first single “Why Ya Wanna” from her self-titled debut album skyrocketed to number 3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart early in 2012. The singer-songwriter is lighting up country music with her emotionally moving songs and sweet, country vocals, selling over 150,000 digital singles in the first six months. All eyes are on Jana as she boldly graces country music with a fresh, new sound and powerful new music.
