FIRST REBEL SUMMER FAN FEST TO BE HELD THURSDAY AT TOWN SQUARE
UNLV Athletics will kickoff the summer by celebrating upcoming sport seasons with free event that includes Q&A with coaches, entertainment, food and giveaways
UNLV Athletics will hold its first Rebel Summer Fan Fest on Thursday (May 18) from 6-8 p.m. at The Park at Town Square Las Vegas.
The free, family-friendly event will kickoff the summer by celebrating upcoming sport seasons and will include entertainment, food, giveaways and question and answer sessions with coaches.
The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a free T-shirt, courtesy of Fox 5, while the first 100 fans will get a free Town Square gift card, courtesy of Town Square. There will also be a free poster given away and an opportunity for autographs.
Entertainment includes a live DJ, T-shirt tosses, raffle prizes and performances by the UNLV Rebel Girls and the UNLV Band.
Food and beverage selections from Pot Liquor will be available for purchase, while activities will include the chance to play with giant Jenga and giant Connect Four, face painting, a balloon artist and a photo station for fans to take shots with UNLV student-athletes and coaches.

UNLV REBEL GIRLS WIN “SCARLET. GRAY. EVERY DAY.” COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMPETITION
Team will deliver more than 325 books and school supplies to students at Robert E. Lake Elementary School on Friday
The UNLV Rebel Girls have won the 2012-13 “Scarlet. Gray. Every Day.” Community Outreach Competition. Recording 19,860 minutes (15.75 hours per team member) over the course of the challenge, which ran from Sept. 3, 2012 to Mar. 31, 2013, and included all 17 sports programs as well as cheer/dance and athletic training, the Rebel Girls claimed the top spot with UNLV softball and UNLV cheer following in second and third place, respectively.
Many hours dedicated by the Rebel Girls to growing The Lindsay Bennett Memorial helped to boost UNLV Athletics’ overall point total and secure a second-place finish in the Mountain West Student-Athlete Advisory Council’s annual community outreach challenge, which concluded in February.
Part of the reward for winning the athletic department’s internal competition includes carrying out one final community service project before the Spring semester ends. A Target Campus Grant will allow the Rebel Girls to deliver more than 325 books and school supplies to students at Robert E. Lake Elementary School during a pep rally on Friday, May 10, at 1:30 p.m. Youth reading remains a key area of focus for the community outreach efforts of UNLV Athletics.
